8th GRADE WILLIAMSBURG, VA FIELD TRIP 2016
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Our 8TH grade Williamsburg, VA field trip is scheduled for May 25-27, 2016. This year’s trip, as in the past, promises to be an exciting and informative experience for each student. The trip will enhance each student’s knowledge in all subject areas, the heritage of our great country, and with the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL’s).
The cost of this year’s trip will be $375.00. The cost will cover chartered bus fare, overnight lodging for two nights, all meals, and tickets for entrance fees to all attractions. Extra spending money is the responsibility of each student.
On this year’s trip we will be visiting exciting places such as the Virginia Air and Space Center, Busch Gardens, and much more!
A non-refundable $75 down payment is required to reserve a place for your child on the trip. The contracted chartered buses will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Money will be collected for the first down payment beginning Friday, September25, 2015. The cut-off date for signing up for the trip will be Friday, October 9, 2015. At that time we will cancel any buses not needed! Please send all payments in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and first period teacher’s name printed on the outside of the envelope.
Additional payments of no less than $75 must be paid at the end of the first week each month to continue to hold a place for your child on this year’s trip. At any time you may pay for the trip in full. You may skip making a payment for the months of December and/or January. All additional payments are to be made to Mr. Guzy, Tour Coordinator or to Ms. Crum in the office. Make checks payable to Graham Middle School. Your child will be given a receipt for each payment made. The trip must be paid in full by Friday, April 8, 2016. No reimbursements will be given after Monday April 11, 2016.
Any student who is repeating the 8th grade and went on the trip last year will not be permitted to go on the trip again. The field trip is an extracurricular opportunity; therefore, poor attendance and/or behavior will void the student’s opportunity to attend. Any student that accumulates four or more daysof out of school suspension and/or misses more than fourteen days of school (regardless of whether they are excused or unexcused absences) will be automatically removed from the trip. Please note, the $75 downpayment is not refundable.Also, at any time during the school year, your child can be removed from the trip by the principal if any of the following occur: poor academic performance (including inconsistency in completing classwork or homework assignments); excessive tardies consistently misbehaving; or being disrespectful to fellow classmates or teachers.
