Rules

1.  Age Groups: there will be competitions in the following age groups:-

a An Under 7 competition Under 7 on 1st September 2014*

b An Under 9 competition Under 9 on 1st September 2014*

c An Under 10 competition Under 10 on 1st September 2014*

d An Under 11 competition Under 11 on 1st September 2014*

e An Under 13 competition Under 11 on 1st September 2014*

*i.e. midnight on 31st August 2014

2.  This is an individual competition

Schools may enter up to six boys or girls in each age category.

3.  Competition format - for all age groups.

Each gymnast will perform in two disciplines which will be added together for the overall individual result.

1. Set Vault. 2. Set Floor

4.  Closing date for Entries: Friday 3rd October 2014

5.  Names of gymnasts to be submitted by: Friday 17th October 2014

General Competition Notes and Deductions

Children must all compete in a leotard.

Gymnasts should not pull down their leotard whilst being judged.

Underwear, if worn, should not show.

Hair should be tied back neatly. Jewellery and coloured nail varnish must not be worn.

Children must line up before the judging panel, at the start of each discipline.

Each gymnast must present to the judges at the start and finish of his/her individual floors and vaults.

The gymnast performs his/her set floor once only and has two attempts only at the set vault, unless, in the judge’s opinion there has been outside interference.

Gymnasts who exit from floor sequences part-way through a sequence will not be permitted to start again.

General Vault Notes

1.  The vault will be used widthways only.

2.  A gymnast is allowed one ‘run-out’ per vault, providing the springboard, mat or vault has not been touched. If the apparatus is touched, the vault is deemed to have been taken.

3.  Schools may use their own springboard, but at other times it must be available for other teams to use.

4.  A safety mat may be used on top of the landing area if desired and available

Vault Heights Under 13 - 110cms

Under 11 - 100cms

Under 10 - 100cms

Under 9 - 90cms

Under 7 - 90cms

These are minimum vault heights. Gymnasts may vault higher if the apparatus allows.

1.  Two vaults to be performed from the list below.

2.  The vaults may be the same or different. Coaches may request gymnast’s first vault score, before the second vault. The higher score will count.

ISA SET FLOOR (U13/U11/U9)

To be performed along a strip of mat approximately 2 metres wide. The rules are the same for boys and girls.

Gymnasts are allowed to start either end of the mat strip. There is no deduction for stepping off the strip.

1 / Stand showing good upright posture for 2 seconds
2 / Immediately lift into, handstand forward roll, immediate-split jump starting out of the roll, to finish in a standing position, arms above head. There should be only one arm movement or swing from roll to jump finishing with arms above head
3 / Step forward into 360o spin on toes. Free leg, high with toe to knee, finishing in front with foot turned out. Back foot extended with toes behind on mat, (pose). Arms optional in spin, but should finish diagonally high.
4 / Join the back foot to the front, jump forwards into a lunge and cartwheel. Finish facing sideways (arms finish diagonally high).
5 / Up on toes. ¼ turn backwards on toes to face the way you have just come, join back foot to front foot on toes. Lower heels.
6 / Point foot forward and then Lift a straight leg forwards and upwards, hold balance 3 seconds. Take leg round to the back into an upright arabesque balance. Hold for 3 seconds. The leg need only to be raised to 45 degrees. Lower to join feet.
7 / Jump forwards into a lunge and round off, immediate rebound high star jump with controlled landing
8 / Backward roll to finish in straddle stand with arms diagonally high above head.
9 / From feet apart, jump feet together and immediately forward roll, followed by immediate 360 high straight jump starting out of the roll, to finish with a secure landing. Only one arm movement or swing allowed from roll to jump.
Turn and ‘Present’ to the Judge

Notes: Walk on and off the mat with good posture. ‘Present’ to the judge

(with eye contact).

Present to the Judge

1.  Forward roll to stand.

2.  Handstand forward roll to stand or forward roll to straddle stand, hold, roll to stand.

3.  Step, join feet, tuck jump, then step, join feet high straight 360 jump or one chasse step and cat leap, then 360 spin on one foot.

4.  Backward roll to straddle stand, hold, slide to straddle sit and 180 circle roll.

5.  Pike fold or bridge or splits, (3 seconds).

6.  Dish, turn to arch, lever up to front support (hold all three positions for 3 seconds) jump to crouch.

7.  Tucked headstand or supported shoulder-stand (hold 3 seconds).

8.  Free ‘V’ sit, or frog balance, or tuck balance or straddle half lever or piked half lever (3 seconds).

9.  Step or steps into cat leap immediate cartwheel, finish facing sideways

Present to the judge

Notes: Walk on and off the mat with good posture.

‘Present’ to the judge (with eye contact).

Start approx. 1/3rd of the way along the strip so that after no. 3 the gymnast is at the end of the mat strip.
