Wireless Connection
The following procedures apply to IBM ThinkPad Lenovo Laptops: R60, R61 and R500
Ø Simple wireless troubleshooting
· Determining if your wireless radio is on
There is a wireless symbol in the form of a light house located at the base of the screen.
ü The icon is green when the wireless is turned on
ü If the wireless light is not green it indicates that the wireless is not turned on , turn it on using the following steps:
® Check and confirm that the wireless switch is pushed to “On” or move to the right. The wireless switch is located right below the left front edge of the base of the laptop.
® Pressing the [Fn] + [F5] keys on the keyboard and selecting “Power On wireless radio” should turn on the wireless setting of the laptop.
Windows 7
The wireless switch should now be turned on.
® You should see a window come up that has a list of available wireless access points in your area. Go ahead and select the wireless access point, if the wireless access point has a password you will need to enter it in at this time. Once you have connected successfully you should see the connected next to the wireless access point that you have selected. If you are still having issues please contact the Helpdesk for assistance.
® You should see the Wireless Network Connection window below with available wireless networks in the range. Select your preferred access point and click connect. If you are still having problem connecting wirelessly, Please contact The Helpdesk for assistance.
The following procedures apply to IBM ThinkPad Lenovo Laptops: R51, R52 and X41
Ø Simple wireless troubleshooting
· Determining if your wireless radio is on
There is a wireless symbol in the form of a light house located at the base of the screen.
ü The icons is green with the wireless is turned on
ü If the wireless light is not green it indicates that the wireless is not turned on , turn it on using the following steps:
® Pressing the [Fn] + [F5] keys on the keyboard and selecting “Power On wireless radio” should turn on the wireless setting of the laptop.
