- Change form to Explorations; right now you have a Capstone form
- Course descriptions need to specify course is the same as the other one
- C1 justification and not social sciences? Representatives want Fine Arts
- Understand resource limitations for team-taught seminars
- Recommend wording that allows team-teaching flexibility
- Pg. 5 Methods of Assessment Beachboard responses unclear; is the instructor evaluating the responses or are students? Who is doing the evaluating?
- Clarify film use; be wary of too much film viewing in the classroom

- Review documents for grammar and spelling corrections
- SCO Methods of Evaluation too specific; may hinder instructor flexibility
- Recommend including a discussion on how skills will be developed
- Email from Comp. Literature not attached
- Interdisciplinary justification very vague
- Be more specific – History? Philosophy? Comp. Lit?
- Solicit advice from various department curriculum chairs
- Recommend Political Science
- Last six suggested Weekly Topics are all on individuals
- GE justifications needs to be stronger and more detailed or remove
Motion to approve RST 332 postponed pending rewrite and reconsideration of GE status
C)General Education Recertification Process:
Lisa Maxfield. GE Coordinator
Discussion:
- GE is at a crossroads; there needs to be changes
- As of 2005-2006, started to see first wave of new policy recertifications
- Result: Many people don’t understand General Education
- Process doesn’t have any meaning anymore
- Looking for thoughtful narrative
- We have to change how we think and report what we do in our courses
- WASC: GE should be considered a Program of Study and, as a result,a Program Review must be completed
