NPRM comments
The HL7 effort to compose and submit comments to HHS is in progress. The first conference call is this Thursday (10/20) 3-5pm Eastern. At present, we are looking for a phone line – this will be sent to the ASIG and ASIGcaNPRM lists as soon as we get it.
The NPRM call schedule is:
Ø Thursday 10/20 from 3:00 to 5:00 Eastern
Ø Thursday 10/27 from 3:00 to 5:00 Eastern
Ø Thursday 11/3 from 3:00 to 5:00 Eastern
ASIG CDA Release 2 project
This project will “kick-off” this Friday, and include a review of the technical analysis done to date by Nick Cheng and Liora Alshuler. We have not made any decisions regarding any kind of migration strategy, and have begun this as a technical analysis project (only). Folks interested in this project should sign-up for the ASIGcdaR2 listserv.
We have scheduled only this one call (need to determine follow-on call schedule):
Ø Friday, 10/21 from 1:00 to 2:30 Eastern
Ø Dial: (866) 748-4757 Access code: 3839 9134 10
Ballot Documents
Penny has submitted the paperwork to announce two ASIG ballots in the upcoming ballot cycle (11/21-12/28). The actual ballot material is due to HL7 by 11/14. The ballots are:
Ø AIS 0008: Home Health Attachment
Ø AIS 0010: Pharmacy Prior Authorization Attachment
Issue: We don’t have the LOINCs yet, and will not know until later this week whether it is possible to have them in time to upload the ballot material by 11/14. Both AIS documents are complex, and require many LOINCs - we would like to ensure Regenstrief has enough time to make correct assignments. Penny is working with Clem and his staff on this.
One possible outcome is to shift the ballot cycle (go “out-of-cycle”), and do the ballot reconciliation via teleconference instead of face-to-face at the January working group meeting. Another option is to ballot the AIS documents without the LOINCs; however, sometimes the order, phrasing, or other characteristics of the data elements are changed slightly during the LOINC assignment process – so it saves a lot of extra work and confusion to ballot with the LOINCs.
Priority: AIS #10 is needed for the MMA ePrescribing pilot project(s) in 2006; the current preference is that the materials go through a ballot cycle before incorporation into the pilot. AIS #8 has been in-progress for so long (pre-2001), that we’d just like to get it done. J
Other matters
None were brought up by the participants on the call.
We finished the call by 3:00 pm Eastern, motioning and accepting this by hanging up.
