Instructions: Prepare for the following speeches. Students will be given up to 2.5 minutes to speak on 1 topic that will be selected at random from the list below. On the day of the exam students will be expected to speak on all topics with NO time to practice or create a rough draft. This is on the spot speaking so PLEASE prepare accordingly. These are a “rough” idea of the topic and should be taken as so. The teacher reserves the right to modify the topic within its general frame.
Example: This is the topic given for prompt #3. Give advice to a new student about what classes and clubs they should take a join at AK (Make sure to use vocabulary from chapter 3 including courses that are NOT cognates!! Be sure to talk about the best ways to get involved for college.)
Actual student prompt:Maricela is an exchange student from Spain, she is very loves to read, make new friends, and is a straight A student. Her favorite pastimes include swimming, salsa dancing, and all water sports. What activities might you suggest to Maricela so that she finds a home at AK. Remember to include how she might make her “resume” look good to a local college.
- What I did last summer and what I will do this summer (Make sure to speak on the past and future experiences, locations, events, etc)
- Give advice to a friend who is having relationship trouble (Include vocabulary from chapters 2 and 3. Give advice about break ups, being stood up, loyalty, etc)
- Give advice to a new student about what classes and clubs they should take a join at AK (Make sure to use vocabulary from chapter 3 including courses that are NOT cognates!! Be sure to talk about the best ways to get involved for college.)
- Share your opinions on stereotypes that exist at AK. (Share stereotypes you think exist and how we can combat these issues to make AK a better place)
- Talk about your last family reunion and all of the “gossip” you heard. (Be sure to use CURRENT family vocabulary including what has happened, had happened, and might have happened- haber tenses)
- Give your opinion on art and artists from Spain (Use vocabulary from chapter 5 and include your opinion)
- Give an “If I were president” speech. (Be sure to use imperfect subjunctive and conditional because all of your statements should be and will be hypothetical!!)
