SECTION VI POST-SEASON REPORT
GIRLS GOLF 2008

During the fall 2007 season, two teams in Section VI participated in the sport of girls golf. Williamsville fielded a district team of 19 golfers. The Williamsville team competed in 13 matches in Western New York, including Rochester. They finished with a record of 12-1. Lancaster fielded a team for the second year competing in six matches. Fredonia, Dunkirk, and Southwestern competed in the spring. Nine Section VI golfers qualified to represent Section VI at the State Tournament in Baldwinsville in June.
Section VI girls golf is continuing to develop a relationship with Section V girls golf to enhance Section VI schedules. Hopefully more Section VI teams will field teams in girls golf for the 08-09 season.

23 girls from five school districts (Williamsville, Lancaster, Dunkirk, Fredonia, Southwestern) participated. The medalist was Natalie Wisniewski of Williamsville South. The other 8 finalist were Jen Ringler-Fredonia, Lisa Saffire-Williamsville, Noel Nowak-Lancaster, Erin Giangreco-Williamsville, Elizabeth Garonowski-Fredonia, Katie Darnley-Williamsville, Emily Swartz-Lancaster, Ashly Baureister-Lancaster. The first alternate was Kelly Pagnano-Lancaster and the second alternate was Kelsey Gambrell-Southwestern.

73 players participated in the 3rd 2008 NYSPHSAA Girls Golf State Championship. This was Section VI’s second year participating, with an improved team score differential of 114 strokes. Natalie Wisniewski from Williamsville South, finished in 8th place receiving a medal by finishing in the top ten. In 2007, Section VI had 1 player finish tied for 23rd, Section VI Champion, Ona Peck from Southwestern, with the rest of the team filling the last 8 places out of 63 participants.
