Dear Parents and Families of AS@P,

This year marks our 15th year raising money for Make-A-Wish®. Last year, we were able to grant two wishes by raising over $8,000! Due to the move to AS@P and no longer having access to the O’Block track, our Jog-A-Thon will be put on hold until we return. Instead, we have come up with an exciting way to continue to raise money for Make-A-Wish while having lots of fun.

The month of October will be a hairy-scary time at AS@P. Mustache Mania will take over the school! The men of AS@P have decided to grow mustaches for Make-A-Wish. This year’s growers are: Mr. Bechtold, Mr. Dinga, Mr. Evans, Mr. Froehlich, Mr. Knisely, Mr. Opina, Mr. Pilyih, Mr. Satterfield, and Mr. Shafer.

Here is how the contest works: The students will vote by placing their change in the container of their favorite mustache grower each Thursday and Friday in October, during lunch. On October 25th, the grower who raises the most money throughout the month will be crowned the 2013 Mustache King of AS@P, at the PTA Halloween Ball.

As parents, you can vote too. Simply go to the PBSD website ( click Adlai Stevenson ES, and click the MUSTACHE link on the left hand side. You can view the progress of each grower and make a donation directly to Make-A-Wish to support your favorite. Just follow the instructions on the website to make sure your grower gets credit for your donation. Feel free toshare the webpage with your friends and family through email or Facebook.

Students will also have a chance to participate in our mustache mania. In honor of the great mustaches in history, each Thursday in October will have a special mustache themed dress up day. Students who dress up can donate 50 cents each week to Make-A-Wish. The themes for each week are attached.

All monies will be donated as part of AS@P’s Make-A-Wish project.
