Role Summary:
The focus of this role will be to deliver people management strategies in support of the organisation’s strategic aims. The role will have both a strategic and an operational focus, providing expert advice and support on all HR matters whilst driving the People Element of the Business Plan.
Guidance and Authority:
The HHR reports directly into the COO.
Furthermore the HHR is responsible for providing guidance to each member of the HR team and ensuring that they carry out their roles productively as detailed in their individual job descriptions.
Main Duties:
- Implement the HR Strategy within the organisation
- Work closely with Head of Departments and line management providing expert guidance on a variety of HR matters
- Develop effective HR procedures and policies to reflect business aims and focus
- Design and implement “value add” HR projects in line with the business strategy
- Lead and develop the HR team
- Enforce HR best practice
- Keep up to date with UK employment legislation
- Oversee and support investigations and complex employee relations issues including redundancy, disciplinary, grievance and TUPE
- Overall responsibility of the recruitment process
- Evaluate and make recommendations on cost effective training and development programmes
- Develop the performance appraisal process which encourages employee engagement
- Manage all employee records to include maternity, paternity requests, absence and sickness
- Provide meaningful HR Management Information to support the Senior Management team to make informed business decisions
- Accountability for HR personnel files to ensure they are kept up-to-date and legally compliant
- Develop new starter, onboarding and leaver procedures
- Gather and evaluate market data to measure the organisation’s competitiveness for salary reviews, compensation and benefits packages
- Act as the externally facing representative for HR for the organisation
Occasional Duties:
The post-holder will be required to
- Work additional or anti-social hours as required to meet the needs of the business
- Attend staff meetings and training as needed
- Travel to other sites, as needed
- Carry out any other duties as are within the scope and purpose of the job as requested by the Chairman
Personal attributes
The post-holder will have:
- Qualified CIPD member
- At least 5 years Industry experience in a similar role
- Strong track record in HR generalist
- Thorough, up to date knowledge of employment law
- Ability to work autonously
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent IT Skills
