GENERAL SUMMARY

The Biomedical Engineering Department at Beaumont Health System (JLL@Beaumont) is looking for a BMET Associate. This position will work at all 3 Beaumont Locations, Royal Oak, Troy, and Grosse Pointe.


The job requires skills reflecting knowledge of a technical field that includes a thorough understanding of the techniques and principles and excellent communication and interpersonal skills that are required to communicate with vendors, guests, hospital staff, management, co-workers and all other persons associated directly or indirectly with WBH or JLL@BHS.

Requires Associates Degree in Applied Science Biomedical Engineering Technology or Associates Degree in Applied Science Electronic Technology.

Repairs, installs and performs various preventative maintenance, performance assurance, inspection and calibration of biomedical equipment and systems. Equipment must be repaired and put back in service with minimum downtime.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ø  Assists BMETs in repairs/corrective maintenance of electronics, electrical, and mechanical equipment, installations, and inspections of various medical equipment.

Ø  Repairs equipment, devices and systems in a timely and quality manner to assure equipment readiness for department use.

Ø  Performs preventative maintenance, calibration and performance assurance on specific types of medical equipment and systems.

Ø  Adherence to scheduled maintenance schedule to allow for optimum use and dependability of equipment by employees and medical staff in a safe environment for patients.

Ø  Assures that required PM’s are done in compliance with established Job Plans and both CMS and TJC standards

Ø  Helps to maintain an adequate parts inventory. Consults catalogs and manuals and requisitions items.

Education, Licensing, Certification and Skilled Trade Requirements:

Ø  Associates Degree in Applied Science Biomedical Engineering Technology or Associates Degree in Applied Science Electronic Technology.

Autonomous Decision Making and Interpersonal Skills:

Ø  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be required in order to communicate with vendors, guests, hospital staff, management, co-workers and all other persons associated directly or indirectly with WBH or JLL@BHS.

Ø  The job requires limited autonomous decision making. Work is generally performed in accordance with standard practices.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

Ø  The typical work environment involves potentially everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions; the work area is typically adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.

Ø  The work as it is typically performed consists of considerable strenuous physical exertion such that specific physical abilities are needed to perform the job.

Ø  The typical work environment involves potentially high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations that require adherence to prescribed safety policies, procedures and precautions.

Tools and Equipment Required

Ø  The job requires regular operation of standard office equipment, and hand tools The job also requires operating tools or equipment with a skill level that is typically acquired through trade or vocational school training.
