The attached Hold Harmless Agreement must be signed by all parade participants and be turned in before the parade rolls at 1:00pm on Sunday, February 26, 2017.

  1. Theme: Sports Mania
  2. Date and Time: Sunday, February 26, 2017; beginning at 1:00pm
  3. Only Krewe members and invited guests may participate.
  4. Float/parade line-up begins at the corner of the LA-1 Service Road and Oaks Avenue (near The Belt Center). We will line up straight down the LA-1 Service Road.
  5. All floats and participants MUST meet and load up all riders, throws, ice chests, food, etc. BEFORE lining up. There will NOT be space available at the parade line-up for participants to park. Suggested meeting places: participant’s home, Rivault Park main parking lot, Community Center, City Hall, courthouse, library, school, etc.
  6. Floats cannot be more than 13 feet tall due to low trees along the parade route.
  7. Parade participants may begin lining up at 9:00am. All parade participants MUST be lined up by 12:30pm. If you would like your float to be judged, you MUST be lined up by 12:00 noon. Ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded between 12:30pm–1:00pm.
  8. Parade Route: east on Oaks Avenue to Jefferson Avenue, north on Jefferson Avenue to Court Street, west on Court Street to Sixth Street, north on Sixth Street to Louisiana Avenue, east on Louisiana Avenue to Jefferson Avenue, south on Jefferson Avenue to Oaks Avenue, west on Oaks Avenue to LA-1 Service Road (The parade ends/disbands when it returns to the LA-1 Service Road. Please do NOT stop when you reach the LA-1 Service Road.)
  9. The parade will NOT stop for a Grand Marshal, King, and Queen toasting. This will be done between 12:45pm–1:00pm at the corner of the LA-1 Service Road and Oaks Avenue (near The Belt Center).
  10. The parade will roll, rain or shine.
  11. Keep at least 15 feet between floats, stay in the center of the road, and do not leave the parade except in an emergency.
  12. Stop your float if the crowd comes too close. Do NOT advance until they back-up. Throw beads, etc. far from the sides of the float; not in front or in back, as it draws the crowd too close to your float. Also, please do not hand out throws.
  13. Do NOT throw any trash from your float at any time during line-up or the parade. You are responsible for disposing of all of your trash properly.
  14. Please remember this is a FAMILY parade. ALL decorations, music, throws, and actions should be family-friendly and appropriate for all ages. Inappropriate and explicit decorations, music, throws, and actions will NOT be tolerated. If you choose to play music on your float, please be considerate of the other parade participants and of the parade spectators when choosing the music you will play and the volume at which you play it.
  15. A “Hold Harmless Agreement” is attached to these guidelines. EVERY participant MUST sign this form before the float can proceed. Parents of minors participating must also sign the form. The “Hold Harmless Agreement” MUST be brought to Toni Landry Ransome in the Belt Center parking lot by 12:45pm on parade day. Your float will NOT be allowed to participate until the “Hold Harmless Agreement” is turned in to a parade chairperson.

I will save and hold harmless Krewe of Good Friends of the Oaks, Inc. from any and all liability with regard to accidents, injuries, or damages sustained while participating in a parade in Port Allen, West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, on Sunday, February 26, 2017, which has been organized by Krewe of Good Friends of the Oaks, Inc.
