Spanish 2Syllabus 2016-17
Spanish II will develop the communication skills of speaking, listening, reading, writing, viewing and showing. At the end of the course you should be able to use Spanish for social practices, to communicate about your ideas, feelings and attitudes, to request and give information, and to negotiate changes in the thoughts or opinions of others. You should have an understanding of the structure of Spanish, a storehouse of vocabulary related to familiar topics and a limited ability to write accurately in Spanish.
Supplies
Each student is required to bring their computer, a pen, paper and /or notebook to class every day, as well as the necessary materials to learn.
Notebook Organization (Paper or OneNote)
If using a traditional notebook, arrange your notebook in three sections: Daily notes and reference, and useseparate paper to turn in your assignments. Keep all your notesuntil theend of the semester; however, you may remove assignments at the end of a grading period. Unannounced notebook checks for a grade will be made throughout each six weeks grading period. If you use OneNote (recommended) the teacher will have access to your Notebook at any time for Notebook checks.
Grades
-Participation in class is a key to academic success and will count as a grade.
-Grade weighs for this class are: 30% Daily Grades (quizzes, activities, oral and written assignments)10% Homework assignments, and 60% Major Grades(oral and written chapter tests, verb tests, projects and daily participation. The semester exam counts as 18% of the semester average.
-Homework is due the following class day.
-Make-up work and late work will be done in accordance with the student handbook (1 day for each day absent+ 1 additional day)
-Mondays and Wednesdays are the allotted Testing days for LOTE classes this 2016/17 school year.
-Retesting for low test grades is offered only after having attended at least an hour tutorial prior to retesting.
-Students will have the opportunity to receive instruction to recover marking period grades. When a student enrolls in the Grade Repair Class, the students will receive quality instruction. The curriculum will recapture any skills they are lacking so that they are prepared to receive credit and also be prepared for the EOC assessment. This intervention plan may include students attending after school Grade Repair or Grade Repair during the day. The highest grade a student can earn is 75. This grade will replace the lower grade. Students enrolled in Pre-AP courses may enroll in grade repair and receive Pre-AP credit for up to 1 marking periods per semester. Students enrolled in AP courses may enroll in grade repair and receive AP credit for up to 1 marking periods per semester. AP courses will have the following additional requirements in order to recover the grade and GPA point value: list writing assignment students will need to complete.
Tutorials and conferences
It is a good idea to ask for tutoring or extra help as soon as you feel you need it. You should schedule this with your teacher.

Classroom rules
-Behave in such way that the learning environment is not disrupted
-Be respectful of yourself and others.
-Limit your personal grooming to restrooms and lockers
Repeated non-compliance will lead to disciplinary consequences as outlined in the student handbook
