2011 Sub Juniors (U6-U8) – Frequently asked questions
What Association does Mosman Football Club belong to?
· Mosman Football Club is part of the Manly Warringah Football Association (MWFA).
When does the season start and end?
· The first round is scheduled for 2 April 2011. The last round of the season is currently scheduled for 13 August.
What is the structure of the team?
· Sub juniors is a mixed competition of boys and girls playing together. Ages Under 6 and 7 play on a smaller field, Size 3 ball, 4 players a side, two halves of 15 minutes, 5 minute break.The U8 age group play 7 a side for 20 min/ half
When will we know team we are in?
· Following Registration Day the club places players in teams. Whilst efforts are made to try to follow preferences provided on registration forms, it is not always be possible to follow these. Teams should be advised by early March.
When and where are matches played?
· Matches are held on Saturday mornings at various grounds in the Association area extending from Avalon in the North to Mosman in the South, for the U7 & U8’s. U6’s play at Spit Reserve, Millers Reserve, David Thomas & Seaforth only. Teams typically have an equal number of home and away matches, and Mosman’s home games are normally played at Georges Heights or Spit West.
Are matches played in the school holidays?
· Whilst the match schedule is yet to be finalised, in past years matches have been held on the first Saturday of public school holidays (but not the middle and end weekend).
Are matches competitive?
· No scores are recorded for Sub Junior matches – the aim is for the children to have fun and enjoy playing football.
Where and when do teams train, and when does training start?
· Teams typically train one afternoon a week. Whilst training rosters have not yet been set for 2011 (and may be different to 2010) as a guide U6, U7 and U8 training is expected to be on Mondays and last years teams typically trained for 45 min to 1 hour, between 4.15pm and 6.30pm.
· U6 Allen Border Oval, U7 Balmoral Oval & U8 at Middle Head Oval.
· The start date for training is up to each team. The following fields are available for pre-season training on Mondays starting Feb 28, (U7 and U8 at either Clifton Gardens or Reid Park from 4pm). U6 times will be advised at the U6 Information/Kit Collection & First training Session on March 6 - see below).
Match format
· U6 and U7 will play the small sided format (i.e. the same format as played by last year’s U6’s & 7’s with 4 players on a small field and no goalie).
· U8 will continue in the format they played last year.
What strip do we play in and do we need to purchase it?
· U6 &U8 in 2011 will play in the club match strip (i.e. predominantly sky blue).
· U7 in 2011 will play in the club training strip (i.e. predominantly dark blue).
· Strip can be purchased at Registration Day or at Olympus Sport.
Are volunteers needed?
· The club runs on a volunteer basis and we need parents to volunteer to be coaches, managers and referees and we really need age co-ordinators. Please complete the volunteer section on the registration form.
What is the club registration fee for Sub Juniors?
· $180 (incl GST). This includes district fees and insurance.
When will we find out more information?
· The club’s main channel to communicate with its players is its website: www.mosmanfootball.com. It is important that you regularly monitor the Sub Juniors section of the website. The club also communicates via team managers.
· An U6 information session for all U6 parents and players will occur on Monday March 6, starting at 9:15am at Reid Park (Down by Mosman Wharf)
