What a lovely day we had the weather was perfect for a great day out. I'm sure there will be a few sunburnt people out there this morning.

Thank you to everyone who helped at this event, people are so generous in giving of their time to help us provide a great day for the riders . I can't thank everyone by name the list would be endless. Grateful thanks to the Jump Judges, you all did a great job.

We at Scunthorpe pony club hope you enjoyed all the new fences and the change of course, our dads worked very hard over the winter months to improve the course, we are hoping to do more improvements this coming winter but can't do it with out more help, if you would like to help us in any way, you don't have to be a pony club parent, maybe a local competitor, or a retired person with time on their hands, who would like to be involved, if so please contact or phone 01724 762265.

The day started on time, with the 60cm pairs class which was well attended with 33 pairs tackling the course, the winners being Gemma Chadwich and Lisa Regan, who were nearest to the optimum time and jumped clear round the fences. The 75 cm classes followed again the entries were good with the horse 75cmattracting 80 riders, the biggest class of the day, it was disappointing that only 10 riders entered the open, because we had put some testing fences in up to height to try and attract more open riders, maybe it will filter through on the grapevine that the open course is now an open course. Overall I think the day was down slightly on entries, but only just, I think this just proves that riders enjoy riding a cross country course in a lovely park setting with loads of trees, the going is also very kind to the horses legs although deep in places which we are working on, but costs, Spectators enjoyed sitting in the sun near the new fences but became a bit of ahazard, when we had to move them behind a rope, this has never happened before, so again proving how popular our course is.

The day ran very well with a few stops here and there for riders falling off only one serious, a suspected broken ankle, the others just had their pride hurt, at least two riders fell off in the water, I'm sure there must be other ways to cool off, they were both laughing about it when I saw them.
