OPTUS CHARTER SERVICE

Optus are relocating all office and call centre staff from Gordon, Chatswood and North Sydney to new premises at Macquarie Park. This move, involving approximately 6,500 staff, will be a staged process commencing early July and continuing through to September.

State Transit has been engaged to provide an Interim Bus Transfer Service (IBTS) to convey Optus staff to their new location until the new Chatswood – Epping Rail Line is opened in mid 2008. Optus have estimated that up to 2,600 staff will use the IBTS. Details are as follows -

Proposed IBTS Commencing 2 July 2007

·  A full time service will operate between approximately 5.30am and midnight seven days per week to and from Epping Station (Route 994) and St Leonards Station (Route 992) with timetables geared to provide train connections.

·  On weekdays, morning peak services will also operate from Wynyard (Clarence Street) (Route 993) and from Chatswood (Route 991) and return in the evening peak.

·  All services are for the exclusive use of Optus staff who will be required to produce their Optus ID Card when joining the bus. No fares are involved.

·  All services will operate Express between point of origin and Macquarie Park and vice versa.

·  Due to the large scale of the operation, State Transit has entered into sub-contracting arrangements with Hillsbus and The Hawkesford Group (Mosman Coaches, Pleasure Charter Buses) to provide some of the services during the peak periods. Hillsbus will operate some Route 993 trips while Hawkesford will operate Route 991, 992 and 994 trips.

·  A copy of the proposed timetables is attached that indicates which trips will be operated by the respective companies.

·  Also attached is a copy of the Bus Operator Guide that outlines the bus stop locations and respective service routes.

A new Customer Service Coordinator position has been created to provide the overall supervision of this charter operation. The appointed CSC, Phillip Robinson, will essentially perform a broken shift 7.00am – 11.00am, 3.00pm – 7.00pm Mondays to Fridays and can be contacted on 0423 847848. At other times, supervision will rest with the Area Mobile Truck CSCs.

Optus staff will be advised to contact Satisfy on 131500 to report any difficulties. Any further queries regarding the operation of the IBTS should be referred to Ken Wheeler, Manager, Business Improvements on 9941 6876 or 0412 295966.
