Software Information for New Teachers

Welcome to the Madison Metropolitan School District!
As an MMSD teacher, there are several software applications you will be using. Below you will find basic information about these applications, how to access them and who to contact for support.
Basic Access Information
4 Employee Number
Your employee number:
· is your 6-digit unique identifier
· drives your access to District email and software applications
· has a lowercase “b” added to the front of it to access most software (e.g. b123456)
· is oftentimes referred to as your “b number”
· remains the same throughout your employment or re-employment with the District

4 Email Address
Your email address:
· is assigned based on your legal first and last name
· has the suffix “@madison.k12.wi.us”
· can be viewed in Gmail after logging in; click the Account Information circle in the upper right-hand corner of the screen

4 Work Phone
Your work phone:
· is assigned by your supervisor
· must be updated by you for our staff directory; use the form on Human Resources’ website at https://hrweb.madison.k12.wi.us/changeform to submit your work phone number

· username: “b” + your employee number (e.g. b123456)
· default password: “x” + your 6-digit birthdate + “X” (e.g. xmmddyyX)

Software Information
4 Gmail
· Gmail is a web-based email and calendaring system.
· Create a signature in Gmail so people can identify and contact you. Include your name, job title, work location, phone, fax, etc. To create a signature, click the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, select “Settings” and scroll down to Signature. Then click the “Save Changes” button on the bottom of the screen.

non-District computer: click “Email Login” on the bottom of the MMSD home page
Training: log in to Gmail, click the gear icon in the upper-right corner, then “Help”, and select “Browse All Articles”

4 Infinite Campus
· Infinite Campus (IC) is the District’s student information system, used by teachers and families for entering and viewing grades, as well as receiving updates on class work.
· username: same as network login
· default password: same as network login
· web: District computer: click the “Infinite Campus” icon in your Novell Applications window
non-District computer: click “Infinite Campus” on the bottom of the MMSD home page

4 District LMC Catalogs (Destiny)
· Destiny is an online library catalog search tool.
· To conduct a search, click on your school, and select the “Catalog” tab on the upper left corner of the screen.
· You must log in to place holds, schedule videos, etc.
· username: same as network login
· default password: same as network login
· web: District computer: click the “ LMC Catalogs District” icon in your Novell Applications window
non-District computer: click “Staff Only” on the bottom of the MMSD home page, and then the “LMC Catalogs-District” icon

4 Moodle
· Moodle is software for producing Internet-based courses and websites. It is designed to support online collaboration and class activities.
· username: same as network login
· default password: same as network login
· web: District computer: click the “Moodle” icon in your Novell Applications window

4 Aesop
· Aesop is an automated phone and web-based system to obtain a substitute to cover your absence (if needed for your position).
· Call or log in to Aesop to enter an absence only for personal or family illness that prevents your attendance at work. The school secretary enters absences for all other reasons, which are planned in advance.
· ID: your phone number with area code, no punctuation (e.g. 6081234567)
· PIN: randomly assigned

4 ePDP
· The ePDP is software designed to help you create your professional development program (PDP). A PDP is required by the Department of Public Instruction to renew your teaching and/or administrator license(s) if you are initial educator and were first licensed after 2004.
· You will need to set up an Employee Profile before you can log in. Click the “Create an Educator Account” link after going to the website listed below.

4 Professional Learning Portal
· The Professional Learning Portal is used to view and enroll in staff professional learning courses. You can also use the portal to review all classes you’ve taken, as well as PAC credits granted.
· You will need to create an account before you can log in. Click the “Create a New PD Account” link after clicking the “PD Catalog” button.

4 MyLearningPlan
· MyLearningPlan is evaluation software for educator effectiveness. It provides training on the Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching, as well as an observation and evaluation management system.

Training: log into TeachScape/MyLearningPlan, and click “Learn” in the upper-left corner

4 OASYS
· OASYS is a system to manage IEPs, progress reports, and forms for Special Education students.
· username: same as network login
· default password: given to you by Student Services after you complete training

4 SearchSoft
· SearchSoft is an applicant tracking system where teachers can apply to be considered for transfer to other teaching jobs in MMSD.
