THANKS! – A big THANK YOUto Barb Bevauns for setting up the after- the-service brunch at the Rock with Bishop Lee.
EVENING BIBLE STUDY-We will resume meeting THISCOMING Wed., Feb. 22nd at 7:00 pmin the church office or in the classroom off the Parish Hall. At that time, we will have an informative session about prayer. We would like to invite everyone at All Saints to attend this IMPORTANT session. There should be plenty of space for everyone who wishes to attend.
LAST SUNDAY BRUNCH - Next Sunday is our monthly "red shirt" day and a chance for you (and your friends) to come out to brunch at the Windmill after the Fellowship Hour to meet and greet our All Saints family! So come join in on the fun, good food, great conversation and laughter. Please contactBarb Bevaunsif you are interested so she can call ahead for reservations!
LENTEN MEDITATION/REFLECTION -For Lent this year, our theme for our reflection, repentance and penance will be racism. We will do a book study and discussion joining in a diocese-wide dialogue with Bishop Lee. The book we will use isLiving Into God's Dream: Dismantling Racism in Americaby Catherine Meeks. There is an online component, and we will figure out how to include even those among us who may be leery and are not computer savvy. If you are interested in participating, please sign up on the list in the Fellowship Hall or email Rev. Rog. He will then buy the requisite number of books. The deadline to sign up is THIS MORNING.
STATIONS OF THE CROSSAND POTLUCK DINNER -As is our tradition, we will gather on Tuesday Evenings at 5:30 p.m. We will walk the stations and then have our dinner and conversation. This is a very good way to add depth to your Lent and an excellent supplement to our Lenten Meditations/Reflection. Our Stations of the Cross beginson Tuesday, March 7th.
TIME TO BRING PALMS HOME - It is that time of year again! If you have any blessed palm fronds or crosses that you wish to donate to be burned (the ashes are what we use on Ash Wednesday), please place them on the counter by the food donation basket. Rev. Rog will collect and burn them appropriately. Just so we are clear, keeping your palm cross is perfectly acceptable too, but please don't just toss it out.
ATTENTIONEVANGELISTS!- Help is needed! It is time to reboot our Evangelism Committee in orderto share our story with others in our community. Hopefully, we will meet a few new folks along the way to help our congregation grow. We are looking for ideas and enthusiasm to plan events and projects, but ourresources are limited. Several members of our parish have offered to be a part of this effort, but more are needed. If you are interested, please contact Kevin Eddy. We are planning a short organizational meeting after the service on February 19th to plan for regular meetings.
A TIP OF THE HAT!- This month we give special thanks to the great menof All Saints and Erica Goldstone, who, like the fabled mailmen, arrive at church every Sunday by 8:00 a.m., rain or shine, sleet or snow, and begin the process of setting up chairs so that the rest of us have a place to sit during our church service. A tip of the hat to them all!
SAVE THE DATE – As winter continues, we move slowly toward the beginning of the penitential Lenten period. Along with that comes Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. Shrove is an English form of the word shrive which means “to obtain absolution for one’s sins”. Here at All Saints we will have our annual Pancake Supper Fund Raiser on Tues., Feb. 28th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, when we can partake of pancakes and sausage. These food items represent a way to use up richer foods such as meat, eggs, milk, sugar and butter before the fasting period of Lent begins. We are asking for a free will donation this year. The proceeds from the event will go toward our next mission trip scheduled for September of this year.
ALTAR FLOWERS -WhileMarge Allemeier is in Florida, please contact Joan Chinal by phone (309-762-8495) or at church if you have questions.
CHOIR PRACTICE-There will be a practice this Monday at 5:00 p.m. at the church office. We also start warming up on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. Come join the fun!
