Overview of the Master’s program

The two-year Master’s degree in Labour Sciences (LAV)at University of Milan provides a highly qualified interdisciplinary learning track. LAV aims at developing a world-class educational path to train professionals in the analysis, setting and implementation of welfare and labour policies; professionals in the strategies of employment relationship management; professionals in diversity management within organisations.

This course belongs to the Labour Studies area, where study, research and teaching are based on a multi-disciplinary approach to labour issues, broadly meant. It therefore aims at being a world-class educational path where the different approaches – law, economics, sociology, political science, statistics methodology, organisational psychology – are well balanced and combined with the issue of labour promotion and management policies.

As a partner of the European network of the European Master in Labour Studies ( LAV promotes exchanges with analogous courses in selected European Universities and offers a curriculum in “International labour and social policies“ where specific modules are held in English.

Foreign students can be admitted to LAV courses held in Englishand LAV students can access courses held in the Universities of the network through the Socrates/Erasmus program.

Study Plan

Students must earn 120 ECTS credits to complete programme requirements. Among them, 30 credits are dedicated to additional educational and research activities, such as dissertation writing, research seminars and elective courses.

Curriculum"International Labour and Social Policies”(taught in English)

The “International Labour and Social Policies” curriculum embodies a theoretical-methodological orientation, aimed particularly at students who are interested in research pathways and comparative analysis.

Courses specific to this curriculum of studies are taught in English and include:

Entry requirements

This programme is intended for top level international students with a strong interest in economics, political science, sociology, law or related subjects.

Admission is based on academic excellence.

Applicants must have:

  • a bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferably in economics, political science, sociology or related subjects;
  • good knowledge of spoken and written English.

Admission:

Admission to the Master’s degree in Labour Sciences (LAV) is based on a written test and an on-site interview.

Test and on-site interviews will be held on September 15, 2011at 10:00 A.M. (Political Science Faculty, Dept. of Labour and Welfare Studies, Seminar room).
