The Exmoor Country Club Student Internship Program is focused on students who truly desire to make club management their career. Introductory and management internships are available in fine dining areas, casual dining areas, banquets, catered affairs, event planning, management skill development in various areas, and other recreational areas for member service.

Interns will also experience planned social and educational events within the club as well as the local chapter of CMAA. The benefit and focus of the internship is to gain a keen understanding and insight of all facets of the clubhouse operations with exposure to the rest of the club operations.

Time expectations for interns is generally 45-50 hours per week and scheduled according to Club operational needs.



Level 1 – Introductory Intern:

This level of Intern is introduced to Club operations with hands on experience in, primarily, the food and beverage areas of the Club. These responsibilities may include being part of the wait staff, banquet staff, and catered functions to learn all aspects of the service excellence that is expected of Exmoor staff.You will have direct member contact throughout most of your experience at Exmoor. This level of intern may or may not have some hospitality experience and is in the 2nd or 3rd year of their Hospitality major.

Level 1 Interns should be adept in multi-tasking, using POS systems, and possess proper service skills and excellent communication skills. Must also be a team player and be outgoing and personable.

Level 2 – Management Intern

This level of Intern is mentored in Club operations by a F & B or Catering Manager and the Assistant GM, but with hands on experience in primarily one area of the Club operation as agreed to with the Assistant General Manager. These responsibilities include learning all aspects of the service excellence that is expected of Exmoor staff. Previous internships or experience in the hospitality industry is required for Level 2 interns. In some cases, a new graduate will be accepted.

Level 2 Interns should be adept in multi-tasking, using computer systems, and possess excellent customer service skills and communication skills, as well as a foundational management understanding. Must also be a team player and be outgoing and personable.

Particular supervisory areas may include staff training, scheduling, and overseeing event functions. These functions are major inclusions to the success of the intern’s final evaluation for a Level 2, so it is important to learn the best practices in leadership from supervisors, managers, and the Assistant GM.

Candidate Qualifications

Ideal candidates will be enrolled in Hospitality or Club Management Programs in a college or university. Candidates should possess an understanding of the hospitality industry, be well organized, self-motivated, have a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic. Must be able to handle a fast paced, high end, sophisticated environment. The qualified candidate must have exceptional communication skills, professional appearance, be detailed oriented and have strong follow through skills. Being able to follow orders and take directions is a must.

Position Available: May 15, 2017

Internship positions will be compensated at different levels (One or Two) depending on the scope of the position. Thehourly salary as agreed will be paid every two weeks per Exmoor’s pay dates; meals are included when on site; Golf privileges on Mondays per Club rule; and housing can be at a shared expense with Exmoor.
