I. Treasurer’s Report

·  Approved the minutes from the regular meeting of April 12, 2012,

and the special meeting of April 27, 2012 as presented.

·  Approved the Financial Report for March, 2012 as presented.

·  Approved the advancing of funds to the Fitness Center Fund (Fund #013)

from the General Fund for the period of April 2012 ($3,100).

·  Approved the five year forecast as presented.

II. Personnel Items:

Administrative:

·  Approved the retirement request of David Engel, part-time high school

principal, effective May 31, 2012. Mr. Engel has been with Tri-Valley

Schools for seven years.

Certified:

·  Approved the maternity leave request of Kendra Roberts, 8th grade Language Arts teacher, starting on or about April 26 and continuing thru the end of the current school year.

·  Approved a one year temporary contract to Hillary Martin as first grade teacher at Dresden Elementary for the 2012-2013 school year, pending verification of all license requirements, background checks, and years of experience calculations.

·  Approved a one year temporary contract to Danielle Kinsey as sixth grade teacher at Dresden Elementary for the 2012-2013 school year, pending verification of all license requirements, background checks, and years of experience calculations.

·  Approved one year temporary contracts for the 2012-2013 school year to the following personnel:

Adamsville:

Classified:

·  Accepted the retirement request of Kristy Corbin, administrative assistant

to the superintendent, effective August 31, 2012. Mrs. Corbin has been

with Tri-Valley Schools for thirty years.

·  Issued a one year limited contract to Melissa Smith as part-time assistant

cook at the high school pending verification of all background checks.

Step 0 on the salary scale.

·  Issued a one year limited contract to Billie Joe Black as part-time assistant cook at the high school pending verification of all background checks. Step 0 on the salary scale.

·  Issued a continuing contract, effective with the 2012-2013 school year,

Superintendent’s Report:

·  Approved all Professional Leave requests.

·  Approved the 8th grade Washington, D.C. Trip for May 16-May 19, 2012.

The students and chaperones will be traveling by seven chartered busses.

·  Approved foreign exchange student, Soenke Wallbaum from

Germany as a junior for the 2012-2013 school year. His host parent will

be Brenton Baker, 6190 Southview Drive, Nashport.

·  Approved the 2012-2013 Tri-Valley Instrumental Handbook.

·  Approved the request for Dresden students: Morgan Anderson, Meghan Anderson, Frannie Emerson, their parents, and teacher Miss Orr, and aide Mrs. Dye, to attend the National History Day Competition on June 10-14 at the University of Maryland as National Finalists. They are responsible for their own transportation.

·  Approved the request for the district sixth grade classes, teachers, and chaperones to travel to King’s Island on Friday, May 11. They will travel by chartered busses and are responsible for their own expenses.

·  Adopted the revised : “When to Provide Prior Written Notice, Informed Consent, and Procedural Safeguards Notice” as follows:

Whereas, the Board of Education previously adopted the Ohio Department of

Education’s Special Education Policies and Procedures, which included an

Appendix “A” that consists of a chart that summarizes when the District must

send Prior Written Notice, Informed Consent and Procedural Safeguards Notice; and

Whereas, the Ohio Department of Education recently revised the chart;

Now, therefore, be it resolved, the Board of Education amends its previously adopted

Version of the Ohio Department of Education’s Special Education Model Policies and

Procedures to substitute the revised chart, which is attached hereto, for the original

Appendix “A”.

·  Accepted and Approved the 2012 attached list of Tri-Valley Graduates.

·  Approved Policy Recommendations adopting a Calamity Alternative

Make-Up Plan.

·  Approved Policy Overview Recommendations for Adoption. (attached)

·  Approved the motion to authorize the 12th Man Club to begin construction of the new “Haliburton Athletic Facility” on the visitors side of Jack Anderson Stadium.

·  Approved the motion to advertise and accept bids for fleet tires for the

2012-2013 school year.

·  Approved the motion to advertise and accept bids for dairy and bakery

products for the 2012-2013 school year.

Ø  Up-date on Race to the Top was given.
