Project Coordinator

Job Description

Salary: £29,424 pro-rata (includes Inner London Weighting)

Hours: 21 hours per week

Responsible to: Chief Executive

Contract length: 31st March 2018

Location: Wandsworth

Purpose of post

To improve the quality of life of local, older people by providing funding and support to voluntary organisations delivering health and wellbeing activities.

Responsibilities of post

·  To provide grant funding for four or five local voluntary organisations and support them to develop and implement activities to meet the needs of local, older people.

·  To co-ordinate networking and communication between the funded voluntary organisations that will further enhance and develop activity provision

·  To work with and support organisations to demonstrate the impact of activities and monitor and evaluate the project as a whole.

Main duties and responsibilities

Project development

·  Provide ongoing support to currently funded projects with any issues of recruiting volunteers, implementing policies and procedures, arranging training etc.

·  Work with staff and partners to support and develop a new Men’s Shed project.

·  Provide information and be accountable to the steering group of the programme, taking notes of meetings, planning agendas, consulting on issues etc.

·  Manage the grant making process in conjunction with the steering group.

·  Enable the funded organisations to share knowledge and good practice by coordinating a regular partners’ forum and compiling a regular partners forum bulletin.

·  Explore options for delivering other health activities funded by the Clinical Commissioning Group at the voluntary organisation venues

·  Update CCG and voluntary sector colleagues with information on activities

·  Support projects collectively or individually to research and apply for alternative sources of funding.

Monitoring and Evaluation

·  Understand the importance of monitoring and evaluation and work with and support all funded organisations to implement newly-devised evaluation tools in order to demonstrate the impact that activities have on quality of life.

·  Provide ongoing support to projects with data collection and monitoring.

·  Collate monitoring information and write final project evaluation report and other reports as requested.

·  Disseminate the learnings from the piloted activity through community networks, share knowledge and skills with other community organisations to build their capacity and enable them to deliver activity and enhance the service they provide.

General

·  Work within Age UK Wandsworth’s policies, ensuring these are carried out in relation to the job

·  Promote Age UK Wandsworth and its work in and around the London Borough of Wandsworth.

·  Undertake clerical or administrative duties and responsibilities as appropriate to the role or as requested by the Line Manager.

·  Undertake other general duties in connection with the general work as may be deemed necessary by Age UK Wandsworth.

·  Attend staff meetings and undergo regular supervision and training.

·  Provide a high level of internal and external customer service at all times

·  Be flexible in undertaking any other duties as required by the organisation including assisting during times of severe weather disruption/crisis management where support for other frontline services is needed which may include working at other sites or in the community setting.

·  Travel independently within the borough to attend various meetings and events

·  The post may involve occasional evening or weekend work, for which time off in lieu can be claimed

Person specification

ESSENTIALS

Knowledge & Experience

1.  Experience of project or service development and project management, including managing performance

2.  Knowledge of outcomes measuring tools and experience of successfully implementing them

3.  Broad understanding of issues affecting older people

4.  Experience of working within charities or voluntary organisations and knowledge of how charities operate

Skills & Abilities

1.  Ability to organise, prioritise and plan work including managing change and working under own initiative.

2.  A friendly open personality with an ability to communicate with a diverse range of people from all sectors, including health professionals, individuals working within local groups and service users

3.  Ability to manage a full workload and work to deadlines

4.  Ability to work as part of a team.

5.  Commitment to the principles of Equal Opportunities and its practical implementation in service development and delivery

6.  Excellent communication skills – both oral and written - sufficient to write letters, project proposals, progress reports, policies etc.

7.  Excellent IT skills including Excel.
