Dear History Day Participant and Parent,
Congratulations, your child will be participating in the regional History Day competition on Tuesday, March 15 at Mankato State University, Mankato, MN. The event starts at 5:00 p.m. this year. This is quite a change for us, as in previous years the event took place during the school day. We need to be loaded and ready to leave Delano at 2:30 p.m. The event is held in the student union, so there will be plenty of places to purchases a variety of foods and drinks. Students may want to bring snacks to eat during the contest, but may not eat on the bus.We should return to Delano around 10:30 p.m. We realize that this is a long evening, but we are limited in the locations that we can attend because of scheduling, location and our school size. The organizers will make every attempt to move the contest and award ceremony along in order to get students home as soon as possible. The students must ride the bus to the event unless they are riding with their own parent or guardian.
This is a fun yet serious academic competition. Student behavior and dress should be appropriate for this type of event. There will be some down time during the evening, so students are encouraged to bring activities or homework along. The judging schedule has not been forwarded to us at this time. We will pass that information on to the students when we receive it. Please complete the attached permission slip in order to attend this event. We will have a limited number of spaces for parents to ride along to the event. If you are interested in that, or have any other questions, please contact me at (763) 972-3365 #3031 or your child’s language arts teacher.
Sincerely,
