Your Church Abuse Awareness

Abuse Test

  • Does your husband/boyfriend act jealous or possessive of you? Does he accuse you of having affairs or paying too much attention to others?
  • Do you feel like you are always walking on egg shells? Do you feel like you have to be especially careful to avoid conflicts?
  • Does your husband/boyfriend call you bad names or put you down?
  • Does he control what you do, who you see or talk to, or where you go?
  • Does he define your feelings, opinions, needs or wants?
  • Does he seem either angry or to have “no idea what you are talking about” when you try to discuss an issue?
  • Does your husband/boyfriend control the money, withhold financial information, take your money, make you ask for money, or refuse to give you money?
  • Has your husband/boyfriend destroyed property? (hit or kicked doors, walls, furniture, thrown items, destroyed the phone or pulled the cord from the wall, etc.?)
  • Does he shove, slap, pinch, kick, and/or hit you?

If even ONE item on the list describes your relationship, you may be in an abusive relationship. Domestic abuse is a pattern of behaviors used to gain and maintain power and control in an intimate relationship. You are NEVER at fault for someone’s choice to abuse you!

If this sounds like your relationship, and you would like some help, please call “insert name” at xxx-xxx-xxxx. Leave a message if it is safe to do so. In the event of an emergency, call 911 OR the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE.
