To all Headteachers

Dear Colleague,

It is time again to think about our annual Good Shepherd Celebration. This year we are returning to Worth Abbey and will be holding the celebration liturgy on Wednesday 21 June 2017at 11.30am. The theme for the celebration will be‘Seeking to build a better world’ linking to Pope Francis’ proposal for a new work of mercy: ‘Care for our common home’ and his announcement of six new Beatitudes for modern Christians on All Saints’ Day.

  • Blessed are those who remain faithful while enduring evils inflicted on them by others and forgive them from their heart.
  • Blessed are those who look into the eyes of the abandoned and marginalised and show them their closeness.
  • Blessed are those who see God in every person and strive to make others also discover him.
  • Blessed are those who protect and care for our common home.
  • Blessed are those who renounce their own comfort in order to help others.
  • Blessed are those who pray and work for full communion between Christians.

Please be aware that all schools will be invited to send a maximum of 25 attendees; to include adults. Attached to this letter you will find an attendance form to be completed and returned to the Education Service Office at DABCEC marked for the attention of Ann Baldwin. To assist us in arranging suitable parking facilities please could you also state which mode of transport your school will use to travel to Worth Abbey.

If you are using a coach as transport, please note the following information: Parking arrangements have been made for all coaches and minibuses to park at East Grinstead Sports Club. Please hand this map to the coach drivers. Postal address East Grinstead Sports Club, Saint Hill Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex RH19 4JU.

Please ensure coach drivers do not return to Worth Abbey to pick up their school party until contacted by their school to do so. We would be grateful if you would give this information to your coach driver along with the attached map on the day. Cars and Minibuses will be directed to reserved parking spaces within the grounds of Worth Abbey.

Schools are asked to return the attendance formto this office byMonday 2 May 2016 at the latest. All places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis only.A speedy response relating to non-attendance would be appreciated and will enable other schools to benefit from your number allocation.
