Dear Room 19 Families

Dear Room 19 families,

Here are the fieldtrips for the year. Please return theATTACHED PERMISSION/FUNDING slip by September 23, 2011.

We have the opportunity to go to the DiscoveryMuseum on Auburn Blvd. on October 7th from 9 to 12:30 to do an archaeology dig as a first fieldtrip. Our Open Court reading unit, AncientCivilizationsis about researching the past as an archaeologist and anthropologist. One story sample isDiggingUp the Past, where a young man, about 6th grade, petitions his city to do a dig in his city’s park. Another story on ancient Pompeii is about an ancient civilization is brought back to life because of the scientists work.

We will leave by 8:30 and return by 1:30. Students need old clothes they can get dirty in and a bag lunch.

FEE- $10.00 per student, includes chaperone/driver fees. If you do not respond by September 23rd, I cannot reserve a space for your child, as reservations are due on this date.

Rivercats Baseball- Ever wonder how a player gets a .389 batting average? We will learn this and other baseball/math ideas from a game called Baseball Math. Calculators will be allowed in class for this game, so the kids really are telling the truth! As we play at school, we will put what we’ve learned into practice on Wednesday, May??( I’ll let you know when we have a date) at the RivercatsRaley Field. For U.S. Bank School Days, we arrive with other schools at 9:30 for a rally, ask players questions, eat a bag lunch (students/chaperones bring her/his own), and then watch a Rivercats game!! We will be back at school at approximately 3:00 p.m. Chaperones and drivers are needed!

FEE: The cost is $15.00 per student and chaperones, and is due on October 7th.

We do need drivers for both trips. The sooner I know you can help, the sooner I can get your paperwork cleared! It does take about a week.

The total amount due is $ 25.00 per student. Chaperones are $15.00 for the Rivercats. All checks are made payable to SuttervilleRoom 19. You will receive a receipt for all funds given.
