Newsletter No. 2Term 1, 9 February 2010

DearSchool and Kingston-on-Murray Community,

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

The diary is definitely starting to fill up! This year we have planned many opportunities for our students, including camps, performances, sporting opportunities, environmental projects and networking with other schools. Our older students are being trained in leadership and independence and all are involved in creating learning plans. Teachers have collaboratively planned the curriculum and worked with others to ensure excellent educational programmes.

This year our school goes through DECS Validation of our DIAF Self Review processes. This will take place in Week 7 and will involve some staff, council members, students, parents and community members in front of a panel. This level of accountability is good for us and showcases the great educational work that we do here.

SWIMMING

Due to the difficulty in getting swimming instructors to the region,we will run our DECS swimming in Weeks 6 and 7 of Term 4.

Each day we attempt to go swimming in the hot weather, so please send the required clothing. It is always easier for students to wear slip on shoes or thongs to the pool.

Choir

Wow! What a great time I had at the Festival Of Music Choir Trainers workshop over the weekend. Nothing like singing with a bunch of talented musicians/singers to get you pumped! As you may have guessed I am excited to be able to be involved in the festival this year by teaching the songs to our little choir. We will be practising on Tuesdays after recess for ½ hr and Thursdays after lunch.

Kids Club at the Vines starts again this Saturday 13 February from 4:30 to 7:30p.m., for 7 -13 year olds. A light tea is provided and plenty of fun activities. There is a bus that takes kids from Moorook and Barmera and home again. If interested there are brochures in the foyer or see me.
