QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Expert ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot Local Area Networks (LANs) and a Wide Area Network.
  • Expert knowledge is expected in the design/support of HP and Cisco equipment (including PIX, routers, switches, contentengines, VPN, VLAN methods, QOS methods, NAT methods, system monitoring and maintenance), AD, DNS, DHCP and routing protocols (including OSPF and EIGRP).
  • Requires experience with URL filtering, SMTP gateways and antivirus systems.
  • Experience with Voice-over-IP components, including call managers, voice mail systems, router modules, andtelephone handsets. (Mitel preferred)
  • Experience with Meraki access points.
  • Experience in hardening server class systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience with AS/400 is also desirable.
  • Requires working knowledge with Microsoft server systems in a virtual environment (VMware)
  • Experience with SCCM is also desirable
  • Experience with PowerShell is also desirable

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Coordinate the replacement, repair, maintenance and selection of new hardware, software, and local area networks, and develop ongoing training.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment:

  • Work closely with the Technology Services Manager to develop plans, strategies and support for the technology needs of the CPCSC.
  • Demonstrate a firm understanding of all network infrastructure systems and concepts, including network security, routing protocols and routing equipment configuration, server hardware and operating systems, firewall systems, communication protocols, and backup systems.
  • Supervises and supports CPCSC technology staff in the installation and maintenance of routing equipment, firewall equipment, and telecommunications systems.
  • Manages and frequently updates network configuration settings for internal and external systems, including DNS, DHCP and firewall settings.
  • Accurately documents all new system implementations and modifications to existing systems (moves, adds, changes).
  • Assists in the design and development of the network services architecture and implementation of new network systems.
  • Supervises the maintenance of existing systems, ensuring that proper fail-safe and failure recovery and security procedures are followed.
  • Provides technical assistance to staff, internal and external to the CPCSC Technology Department.
  • With the assistance of CPCSC technology staff: Creates router and switch configurations.
  • Researches and provides expertise on integration of third party software and tools.
  • Responsible for the administration of a LAN/WAN networking environment, including maintaining user accounts, network printer configuration, backup systems, Voice-over-IP and voicemail systems.
  • Provides top level technical assistance to coordinate effective resolutions for customer problems.
  • Actively participates on project teams.

LEADERSHIP IN INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the selection and application of technology as it relates to the K-12 professional staff, media program needs and administrative staff.
  • Assist with staff training programs as it relates to the application of technology in the K-12 staff, media, and administrative staff including hardware, software, e-mail, student and personnel information system, and the Internet.
  • Assist with the planning and provision of technology presentations at school board meetings as directed by the superintendent’s office and the Director of Curriculum and instruction.

PERSONNEL AND TECHNOLOGY TEAM RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Relates and works effectively with the technology team.
  • Relates and works effectively with the Superintendent of Schools, Chief Financial Officer, Business Manager, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Director of Buildings and Grounds, Technology Services Manager, principals, and staff.
