Conahy Notes

FOOTBALL

Conahy Shamrocks footballers were defeated by Glen Emmets of Louth in Jenkinstown in the Leinster Junior Club Football Championship on Saturday last. Though the Louth men were the better team, the locals were more than competitive for three quarters of the game until Glen Emmets managed to pull away in the end. The visitors led by 2-4 to 1-3 at the interval but Conahy’s task was made more difficult when they were reduced to fourteen men early in the second half. They also missed a number of scoring opportunities for both goals and points which would have also helped their cause. As it was, when Glen Emmets scored their third goal midway through the half, it meant that they could comfortably see out the remainder of the game, winning in the end by 3-11 to 1-4.

TEAM: Paul Buggy; Seamus Óg Brennan; Thomas Nolan; Peter Harding; Eoin Coogan; Michael Bergin; Eoin Carroll; Gary Kavanagh; Paddy Mullan; Kieran Mooney; Gary Dunne (0-1); Tom Phelan (0-1); Declan Buggy (0-1); John Muldowney (1-0); Padraic Delaney (0-1, free).
