Summary of ARE

* ARE is low in ALL YG’s bar Y6

* Highest ARE is Y2 and Y6 – these two were moderated and are therefore 100% accurate.

* Although the baseline was accurate when set – we should have planned from and used the current ARE sheets earlier like Y6.

* All BMX triangulated by JH and KK and SLT in June / July 2016.

Questions Arising

* Is it possible to see 7% of the class at ARE this year.... move to 87% the following year? NO......

- Reason.....

When Y6 set the benchmark; they planned and taught from the Y6 ARE. Thus as the children learnt and moved through the Y6 BMX they showed OUTSTANDING progress.

They didn’t plan from the gaps in their BMX. Otherwise they would not have had the time to teach their current objectives.

* September 2016 – all children (with SEN exceptions) will be on their CURRENT ARE sheets. Planning will be from these – interventions can be used to ‘gap fill’.

* Teacher expectation has increased dramatically this year – thus excellent progress.

- High quality CPD and triangulation and coaching sessions delivered by Jean Hirst – Literacy and Karen Knapper Maths.

- Triangulation will continue in the Autumn term.
