Course Description: **Serious Inquiries Only**

This course is designed for students who are seeking to execute and perform advanced lifting and high intensitytraining. This advanced training course will include: Olympic lifts, plyometric training, and agility and speed workouts. Coursework will include the basic principles of exercise prescription, sports nutrition, exercise testing and evaluation, cardiovascular fitness, and strength development. The course also includes aerobic/ anaerobic conditioning activities and skills that cater to what an athlete might see in their area of competition. This course is not recommended for novice fitness levels and inexperience in the weight room setting. Workouts will havemodifications (scaling up/down) to meet the needs for an intermediate to proficient level athlete only. This physical work in this course is demanding, but will optimize and develop overall strength and conditioning geared towards optimal wellness. The design and implementation of the student’s personal fitness plan is included in this course as well.

Grading

The quarter grades will be equally weighted at 40%. A midterm will be administered at the end of the first and 3rd quarter. A comprehensive final will be given at the end of the semester, weighing 20% of the semester grade. Parents and students are encouraged to check their grades on PowerSchool. Grades will be updated weekly. Interims will be given mid quarter.

  • Daily grade – 50% - Daily Participation: Students will receive a daily participation grade which is broken down as 20% for dressing out, pre-exercise warm-up and condition activity
  • Physical assessments/classwork/notebook check- 25%
  • Test/Projects- 25%

Letter Grade

A = 90-100B = 80-89C = 70-79D = 60-69F = 59 AND BELOW

Students MUST maintain a good academic standing in all other classes to be considered. Submitting of this application DOES NOT mean you are automatically enrolled in this class, as each application will be considered on an individual basis.*
