Winners Announced

This year we were pleased to have received 48 organizations /individuals for the 2nd Annual Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Awards. "It’s important to acknowledge, recognize and appreciate in a tangible way the efforts that all the volunteers and the Not-for-Profits, Charities and Services Groups who make our city and town such a great place and such a great community”, said Greg Durocher, President & CEO of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce.

A Special Tribute to former Mayor and Regional Councillor Jane Brewer included a wonderful video tribute from many of her colleagues and friends who have come to know her as a strong, steady and compassionate leader of the Cambridge community. She was presented with dozen pink roses which signify admiration and appreciation, as well the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recognized Jane by honouring her with a Lifetime Membership in the Chamber for her contribution to the economic and social values of the City of Cambridge.

Best Corporate/Non-for-Profit Partnership:The award recognizes a partnership that was formed with a corporation that went beyond mere donations in your corporate-non-profit/service club efforts.

The winner was: Community Support Connections - Meals on Wheels and More/Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada

Best Marketing Campaign: The award recognizes an outstanding promotional marketing campaign that generated awareness of your organization and saw positive results. The campaign may have been executed through print, email, web, mobile, social media or a combination.

The winner was: YWCA of Cambridge( Walk A Mile in Her Shoes)

Event of the Year Campaign:This award recognizes anevent or program that was implemented by your organization, which made a huge or important impact that increased awareness and or boosted the bottom line.

The winner was: Cambridge Rotary Ribfest 2014

Employee of the Year: The Employee of the Year Award acknowledges outstanding service of an employee who has consistently excelled in his/her work. The individual has consistently and clearly surpass performance requirements of his/her position, has made significant contributions toward reaching the organizations goals and objectives, has demonstrate dedication to the organization, and has exhibited a high level of leadership and cooperation in working with other employees, volunteers and the general public.

The winner was: Bonnie Dion - Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank

Volunteer of the Year: Nominees must have been involved in volunteering for the equivalent of at least 100 hours over a 12-month period. Nominees must have volunteered for a legitimate not-for-profit organization, service club or community group. The communities of Cambridge/Township of North Dumfries or Waterloo Region must be significant beneficiaries of the nominee's volunteer work.

The winner was: Jeanette Berenz- Galt Horticultural Society

Youth Volunteer of the Year:Nominees must be 18 years or younger. Nominees must have volunteered for a legitimate not-for-profit organization, service group or community group. The communities of Cambridge/Township of North Dumfries or Waterloo Region must be significant beneficiaries of the nominee's volunteer work.

The winner was: Meagan Campbell of Monsignor Doyle

Service Club of Year:This award recognizes the commitment and activities of service clubs to the Cambridge and Township of North Dumfries communities. The Award will be presented to the Service club who, through the contribution made by its members resulted in the betterment of our communities or people’s lives who live in our communities.

The winner was:Rotary Club of Cambridge (Preston-Hespeler)

Not-For-Profit - Under 10 Employees:This award recognizes a not-for-profit organization or service club that provides outstanding programs, services, events or campaigns that support the needs of the community and its residents.
The winner was: Active Cambridge Inc.

Not-For-Profit - 11 Employees and Over:This award recognizes a not-for-profit organization or service club that provides outstanding programs, services, events or campaigns that support the needs of the community and its residents.

The winner was: Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank

Lifetime Achievement Award:Awarded to an individual who, over the past 25 years or more, has made significant contributions to the community and has improved the quality of life for citizens or whose accomplishments have brought recognition to the Waterloo Region.

The recipient was: Jane Brewer
