ANOINTING FOR EXPLOITS AND EXPANSION

God desires to pour His Spirit upon ALL flesh and to distribute the gifts of the Spirit to EVERY man as He wills (Joel 2:28,29; 1 Corinthians 12:11). God desires to anoint us with the power of His Spirit so that we can do exploits for Him (Acts 10:38; Isaiah 61:1-3; Daniel 11:32).

When an Elisha receives a “double portion” anointing, double portion exploits and expansion of ministerial work results. The exploits and expansion we will achieve in ministry will be proportional to the anointing we receive.

Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? (Acts 19:2). Are you desirous of God’s power and anointing?

ANOINTING FOR THE DESIRING

Judges 6:13-16,34; Psalm 74:9-11; 1 Corinthians 12:31; 14:1; 2 Kings 2:9-15; Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4; 8:14-17; 19:2

Although God is ready and willing to pour His anointing on ALL, there is the necessity of hungering after it. Gideon asked “Where be all His miracles which our fathers told us of” (Judges 6:13). He had a vision, desire, passion and hunger for the miraculous. The Lord in turn anointed him for exploits (Judges 6:14-16,34). When we desire the anointing, The Lord will grant it unto us.

Are you not concerned that you see not your signs? (Psalm 74:9-11). Are you not fed up of christianity that is devoid of the miraculous? (2 Chronicles 15:3; Psalm 74:9; Lamentations 2:9; Ezekiel 7:26; Amos 8:11).

If we desire after God’s power and we tarry in our Jerusalem like the disciples of old, our Pentecost will surely arrive and we will be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4; 8:14-17; 19:2).

An Elisha that desires a double portion of Elijah’s anointing will surely not be denied if he fulfils all the conditions (2 Kings 2:9-15). We are positively enjoined to covet earnestly the best gifts and to desire spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:31; 14:1).

ANOINTED TO DELIVER

Micah 3:8; Acts 1:8; John 16:7-11; Jeremiah 1:8-10; Judges 3:10; 6:34; 11:29,32; 14:6,19; 15:14; Isaiah 61:1-3; Luke 4:16-21; Acts 10:38; 1 John 3:8.

When God grants us the anointing of His Spirit, it is not for an idle purpose. The anointing we receive is for service (Acts 1:8). The anointing is for exploits (Judges 3:10; 6:34; 11:29,32; 14:6,19; 15:14).

Specifically, we are anointed to deliver in two respects:

(1)Deliver something to people

The Spirit of the Lord comes upon us to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin (Micah 3:8). God expects us to pull down every façade of unrighteousness, uproot trees that the Father has not planted and plant godly standards in their place (Jeremiah 1:8-10).

Anointed Nathan can declare to David “Thou art the man” (2 Samuel 12:7). Anointed John the Baptists can confront sinful Herod with “It is not lawful for thee to have her (brother’s wife)” (Matthew 14:3,4). Anointed Elijah can confront Ahab and his evil associates with the stern word of God (1 Kings 18:17-20; 21:20-24). Many other examples from the scriptures show that when we are anointed, declaration of the truth to people is a primary responsibility in our lives (John 16:7-11; 1 Kings 22:28; Jeremiah 37:17; Acts 8:20-23; 13:9-12).

(2)Deliver people from something

When God anoints a captain over His people, one of the primary responsibilities is for them to deliver the people from the hand of the enemy. Saul was anointed captain over God’s people in 1 Samuel 10, there was a Nahash to crush in 1 Samuel 11. David was anointed captain over God’s people in 1 Samuel 16, there was a Goliath to conquer in 1 Samuel 17. The anointing is always for exploits. The examples in the period of the judges convincingly demonstrate this (Judges 3:10; 6:34; 11:29,32; 14:6,19; 15:14).

The life of Jesus is a practical evidence of this as well (Isaiah 61:1-3; Luke 4:16-21; Acts 10:38; 1 John 3:8).

ABOUNDING IN DOMINION

Isaiah 10:27; Judges 15:14-16; 3:10; 6:34; 11:29,32; 14:6,19; 2 Kings 2:9,14,15,19-22; 3:16-19; 4:1-7,43,44; 5:14; 6:5-7; 7:1,2; 13:17; Isaiah 61:1-3; Acts 10:38; 1 John 3:8.

The anointing of God’s Spirit always catapults a person to action. It brings tremendous breakthroughs. It enables an individual to abound in dominion:

(1)Yokes are destroyed and burdens are lifted (Isaiah 10:27)

(2)Bondages are loosed and chains are broken (Judges 15:14)

(3)Tremendous victory over the enemy is realised (Judges 15:15,16; 3:10; 6:34; 11:29,32; 14:6,19)

(4)Jordan is parted, divine revelation, changed circumstances, miraculous provision, debt cancelled, axe head swims, sicknesses healed (2 Kings 2:9,14,15,19-22; 3:16-19; 4:1-7,43,44; 5:14; 6:5-7; 7:1,2; 13:17)

(5)Oppressions cancelled, afflictions terminated, etc. (Isaiah 61:1-3; Acts 10:38; 1 John 3:8).

The life of Elisha is a glorious illustration of what happens when the anointing comes. Jordan is parted which is symbolic of giant problems giving way (2 Kings 2:9,14,15). Divine revelation, guidance and leading (2 Kings 3:16-19), changed circumstances and restoration of pleasant living (2 Kings 2:19-22), miraculous provision of needed supplies (2 Kings 4:43,44; 7:1,2), debt cancellation and freedom from financial bondage (2 Kings 4:1-7), axe head swims and lost things and cities are recovered (2 Kings 6:5-7; 13:25), incurable sicknesses healed (2 King 5:14), deliverance and victory in spiritual warfare (2 Kings 13:17), expansion of ministerial work under ones care (2 Kings 6:1-5).
