1st period: germ-x

3rd period: germ-x

4th period: one ream of paper

5th period: one ream of paper

6th period: a box of tissue and a pack of filler paper

7th period: disinfecting wipes

What will we be doing?

This course is a review of algebra and geometry. This class contains some material from previous courses and some material that you have not seen before.

In addition, we will overview the math sections of the ACT, and ASVAB tests. No matter where your future is headed you will likely face standardized math tests. My goal is to have you more accustomed to them in order to give you an advantage to reaching your future goals.

Instructional Philosophy:
Students are expected to work consistently at the highest levels of their ability to develop the required skills. The work they produce should met established standards. Students will be engaged in learning through a combination of instructional strategies including but not limited to class discussion, hands-on activities, problem solving, independent work, cooperative group work, critical thinking and use of technology.

What is expected of me?

Classroom Rules

  1. RESPECT. Yourself, fellow students, teachers, and all others who may enter the classroom.
  2. Be on time.
  3. Be seated. Please refrain from moving around the classroom unless you have permission.
  4. Be quiet. Raise your hand and wait for the teacher to call on you before you speak.
  5. Be prepared. Have ALL materials BEFORE you walk inside the classroom.
  6. Follow directions – the FIRST time.

Pencils – ALL assignments to be turned in should be completed with a pencil! NO PENS!

Entering the Room – Make sure you have all of your materials before coming to class. Walk in the classroom calmly. Make sure your pencil is sharpened and begin working on the bell work before the tardy bell rings.

Tardies – If you enter the classroom after the tardy bell has rung, you are considered tardy. If you are tardy three times, you will be written up on an office referral. Three tardies will forfeit your right to exempt the semester/final exam.

Ending Class – I will let you know when it is time to pack up your things to leave. Remain seated until I have dismissed the class.

Make Up Work – No work can be made up unless the students has an excused absence from my class. A student may not turn in work late for any reason other than an absence. It is the responsibility of the student to get any work he or she has missed while absent from class. Students should get missed notes from another student and get any handouts from the appropriate file on the table. All make up work MUST be completed within THREE days, including daily grades, tests and quizzes per the county handbook.

Notebook – All students will be required to keep a math notebook designated solely for this class. Keep notes and homework separate.

Asking Questions/Getting Help– To ask a question in class, raise your hand. I will acknowledge you by calling your name or coming to your desk. Sometimes, you may be asked to write your question down and ask it again in a moment or to meet with me after class to discuss the question.

Moving About the Classroom – If you need to go to another area of the classroom for any reason (like using the stapler), raise your hand and I will acknowledge you. When given permission, you may get out of your seat.

Restroom - If you must go to the restroom, you can use one of your passes (one person at a time) by bringing your pass to me. You will be given two passes per nine weeks. When you are given permission, you MUST sign out in the log at the back of the classroom. When you return, you MUST sign back in.

iNow Parent Portal - I encourage ALL parents to sign up for iNow Parent Portal – this will allow you to see assignments and their grades once they have been entered into the grade book. See the technology coordinator for more information.

Cell Phones – Cell phones are not allowed in my class unless I give you specific permission!! On test days, cell phones will be placed in a designated spot until the end of the period.

Change per the county handbook: Electronic device misuse will have the following consequences:
1stoffense: 1 day ISS

2nd offense: 3 days ISS

3rd offense and subsequent offenses: 1 day OSS
