BENEFITS SUMMARY 2015

The Boston VA Research Institute, Inc. (BVARI) offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our employees. If you take full advantage of our benefits, you may receive an additional 33% in annual compensation in benefits! Here are some highlightsof our benefits package:

  • Paid Time Off: Through our Earned Time Program new employees accrue as follows:

Full-time non-exempt employees – 19.5 days annual, accrue at 6 hours biweekly

Full-time exempt employees – 31 days annual, accrue at 20.67 hours monthly

*Employees will receive prorated time during their first year of employment.

  • Federal Holidays:All employees are eligible for up to 10 paid federal holidays annually. Employees must be scheduled to work on a holiday to be eligible. Part time employees may receive pro-rated holiday pay based on their scheduled tour of duty.
  • Medical Coverage:BVARI offers employees a choice of a two tier health insurance program through Blue Cross Blue Shield:

Tier 1:HMO Blue plan– no deductibles $10/$25 co-pays for doctor’s office visits.

Tier 2:HMO Blue Deductible - $1,000 single/$2,000 family of which BVARI will pay 50% of deductible (if needed) $20/$35 office visits

  • Dental Coverage: BVARI offers a two tier Dental plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts:

Tier 1:Dental Blue $5,000 calendar yr maximum, which includes orthodontic care

Tier 2:Dental Blue $1,500 calendar yr maximum, which includes orthodontic care

  • Vision Coverage: BVARI offers a two tier Vision Plan from VSP
  • Retirement - 403(b) plan: New employees are eligible to enroll in the plan immediately upon hire. Upon the completion of a full year of service, BVARI will match your contributions dollar-for-dollar, up to a maximum of 5% of your earnings. In addition, the Board of Directors may designate a discretionary contribution into your each eligible employee’sretirement plan at the end of each plan year (regardless of employee participation).
  • Corporate Commuter Program:BVARI will provide monthly Charlie Cards or Tickets to full-time/part-time employees that commute to and from work on a daily basis. The BVARI contribution will be 80% for full-time employees, and 40% for part-time employee’s total monthly costs. In order to qualify, employees must enroll in the BVARI corporate t-pass program from the MBTA, and sign a fraud and use waiver.
  • Flexible Spending:Flex Choice (FSA) allows you to put aside pre-tax dollars from each paycheck and covers an extensive range of out-of-pocket health care and Dependent care expenses. This includes everything from healthcare deductibles and co-pays, to orthodontics, eyeglasses, contact lenses and eligible daycare expenses. A Health Care FSA debit card is provided for ease and convenience and allows immediate access to your benefits. The debit card is accepted by most major pharmacies, and Medical offices.
  • Additional Benefits:BVARI offers complimentary Life Insurance (2x salary) up to a maximum of $150,000, Short Term and Long Term Disability Insurance, and Accidental Death & Dismemberment. We also offer employees the opportunity to enroll in a supplemental Life insurance plan, which is employee paid, to increase personal coverage and/or include spouse and children under the age of 19.
