Most days, Mrs.Culbreth is available after school. Please make an appointment in order to assure a particular conference time.

Course Description: This course establishes basic foundations for further study in business and marketing courses and provides essential information for making financial and economic decisions. Students will learn about the fundamentals of the American free enterprise system and world economies; application of sound money management for personal and family finances; credit management, consumer rights and responsibilities; forms of business ownership; risk and insurance; and the importance of international trade. Leadership developmentwill be offered to students through FBLA. (Future Business Leaders of America)

Course Goals/Outcome: Students will be able apply the above areas to their personal and professional life.

Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend class on time with folder, paper andpen/pen. Textbooks will be left in classroom. Students can check out textbooks as needed.

Grading: Student grades are based on completed assignments, quizzes, andtest scores.

Plagiarism and Cheating Policy: Plagiarism and cheating will not be accepted and will be given a Zero, which could result in failing the course.

Attendance Policy: Students will follow the attendance policy adopted by the Edmonson County High School District, which is clearly outlined in the Student Handbook. Class begins on time. Students are expected to be in their seat by the second bell.

Expectations of Students:

  • Attend class on time with folder, paper, and pencil/pen.
  • Students that are not in the class by the bell will receive a tardy. On the second incident, the student will be required to write the tardy policy 5 times. On the third incident the student will be required to write the tardy policy 10 times. All incidents after will result in referral to administration.THE TARDY POLICY IS ENFORCED IN THIS CLASSROOM.
  • Make up missed assignments. Daily assignments are documented on Mrs. Culbreth’s on-line blog. If a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to check the blog, and speak with teacher if anything is unclear.
  • The use of cell phones is outlined in the student handbook and will apply in this class. Cell phones are to be turned off and out of sight during class time.
  • Students will stay in seat until bell rings for dismissal.
  • Use of Internet, email, and computer games is prohibited unless assigned by teacher.
  • Students will be given ample restroom passes, but are expected to use the restroom during their break/passing time between classes. Only one student at a time will be allowed to leave the room. Additionally, if a student is out of class to go to the restroom they MUST have the designated hall pass (KEYBOARD), and the student must fill out the restroom sign-out sheet located next to the front door. Failure to complete all parts of the sign-out sheet could result in loss of privileges for the remaining semester.
  • If a student has a medical problem requiring use of restroom, a doctor’s excuse must be provided to the teacher and a copy of the excuse given to the office.
  • Show respect for self and others at all times. This includes language, gestures and anything else that is inappropriate.
  • No food or drink in classroom.
  • Students will sit in alphabetical order.
  • Students are to have the designated hall pass with them anytime they are out of class. Additionally, students are not to leave class and go see another student in another class unless they have permission from an administrator.
