“A Kingdom Mindset” Part 1

(Transforming the Mind)

We will study two views:

1.A Kingdom Mindset

2.Transforming the Mind

Scripture Reading:

Ephesians 4:23-24, And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (KJV)

  • The mind of the soul—is experiences of one’s past. This is the primary means by which the soul develops. The soul is the will, the emotions, and the intellect of an individual.
  • Mind in Ephesians 4:23—refer to the intellect, the human thoughts, the feelings, and the will of an individual.

a.The mind is a storage house for information that has accumulated all of our experiences in life— good or bad.

These experiences cause a pattern of thinking to develop in our mind.

b.The mind is where all of our decision-making processes are finalized.

c.Our decision-making can determine the outcome of our destiny.

A.An individual with ‘A Kingdom Mindset’ has control over their thoughts, their emotions, and their ‘will.’ Their submission to ‘A Kingdom Mindset’ enables them to willingly render these three areas to the ‘Word of God’ and the Holy Spirit.

Proverbs 25:28, He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. KJV

Proverbs 25:28, A person without self-control is like a house with its doors and windows knocked out. Message Bible

1.‘A Kingdom Mindset’ routinely submits to the authority of a high power. They do not question their superior or have an opinion about the matter. Their relationship is based purely on trust in the matters of the Kingdom.

Philippians 2:8-11, And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (KJV)

  • Verse 8 here is referring to the willingness that Jesus had to submit.
  • Though He was equal with God, submission crowns Him with glory and positions Him in a place of authority above all other names in all three worlds.
  • ‘A Kingdom Mindset’ has a clear view (revelation) of God’s objective in their lives.
  • ‘A Kingdom Mindset’ is able to translate how their submission is intertwined in the scheme of the Kingdom advancement.

2.The mind, which is carnally infused, can never be acclimated to a systematic concept of Kingdom living.

Romans 8:5-7, Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;

7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. NIV

  • A spiritual mind identifies itself with the Spirit of God and God’s way of doing things.
  • ‘A Kingdom Mindset’ rejects all ideas, thoughts, or feelings emerging from the tendencies of the flesh.
  • ‘A Kingdom Mindset’ predominant method of thinking leads to righteousness or doing things right.

3.Submission to authority is ‘A Kingdom Mindset’ which causes our priorities to be centered on what God’s ‘will’ is in the midst of our suffering. Ephesians 4:1-16, As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.

2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. NIV

B.The mind will never submit to God’s ‘will’ without ‘Transforming the Mind.’ The mind is Satan’s objective to control.

1 Peter 5:8-9, Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.

9 Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset — rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same ( identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world. AMP

  • ‘Be vigilant,’ be alert mentally, be awakened, the spirit of our mind.
  • ‘He may Devour’ is referring to ‘drinking down’ or to gulp entirely; to have complete control.

1.The ‘Transforming of the Mind’ is no less of a task without a commitment to change or renewal. ‘A Kingdom Mindset’ is all about becoming subjected to a lifestyle not of this world.

Colossians 2:20-23, If then you have died with Christ to material ways of looking at things and have escaped from the world's crude and elemental notions and teachings of externalism, why do you live as if you still belong to the world? [Why do you submit to rules and regulations? — such as]

21 Do not handle [this], Do not taste [that], Do not even touch [them],

22 Referring to things all of which perish with being used. To do this is to follow human precepts and doctrines.

23 Such [practices] have indeed the outward appearance [that popularly passes] for wisdom, in promoting self-imposed rigor of devotion and delight in self-humiliation and severity of discipline of the body, but they are of no value in checking the indulgence of the flesh (the lower nature). [Instead, they do not honor God but serve only to indulge the flesh.] AMP

a.Three steps to transforming our minds:

  • Put to death the world’s ideas (system of life)
  • Study God’s Word with application in mind
  • Allow God’s Word to govern your thoughts and passions

b.The renewing of the mind is resistance and persistence.

Colossians 3:9-10, Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices

10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. NIV

2.The transforming of the mind first starts with an attitude of submission and secondly, a willingness to comply with authority.

Philippians 2:5, Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:] AMP

  • ‘A Kingdom Mindset’ is a life preferred through obedience. It is a life that is not restricted to the world we live in.

Romans 16:19, Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. NIV

  • The mind must learn to comply with God’s way of doing things. Compliance removes all temptation of rebellion.

Hebrews 5:8-10, Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered

9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him

10 and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek. NIV

  • ‘A Kingdom Mindset’ is a love for God and a love for the Kingdom life.

2 John 6, And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. NIV

Conclusion:

‘A Kingdom Mindset’ will take hard work and submission to the authority of God if we are to enjoy life to the fullness. We must comply with the Word of God and resist the world’s concept of doing things. We are no longer of this world though we live in this world. We have a new systematic way of doing things.
