1st Quarter Report Card Goals (2012 Standards) 10/22/12

Math

  • Can recognize 10 numbers.
  • Can count up to 20 objects.
  • Can count to 25.
  • Writes numbers 0-9 (reversal ok for single digit not for double digit).
  • Compares quantities 0-9

Writing

  • Stages of Writing: *Your child should be at stage 2 with their writing.

1. Writes with pictures only.

2. Writes with random letters.

3. Writes with beginning sounds.

4. Writes with beginning and ending sounds.

5. Writes with beginning, middle, and ending sounds.

6. Writes phrases.

7. Writes simple sentences.

8. Writes simple sentences using correct spacing and punctuation.

9. Writes complex sentences using correct spacing and punctuation.

10. Writes two or more related sentences using correct spacing and punctuation.

  • Can read what he/she has written and/or illustrated.
  • Can print and copy legibly.
  • Can write first name with first letter being capital and the rest lowercase.
  • Can draw a picture to a prompt.

Reading

  • Can identify 26 of 52 letters.
  • Can say 7 of the 31 letter sounds correctly (vowels have 2 sounds).
  • Can identify at least 8 of the 40 sight words.
  • Can read first name.
  • Can identify rhyming words.
  • Uses reading strategies- identify cover of book, track print 1:1, left to right, and identify pictures vs. text.
  • Uses comprehension skill- real/make believe, identify the characters and setting in a story.

  • Can count up to 20 objects.
  • Can count to 50.
  • Counts by 10s to 50
  • Understands comparisons (numbers and quantities)
  • Writes numbers 0-20 (reversal ok for single digit not for double digit).
  • Identify 2D and 3D shapes
  • Sorts objects
  • Understand measurement

Writing

  • Stages of Writing: *Your child should be at stage 4 with their writing.

1. Writes with pictures only.

2. Writes with random letters.

3. Writes with beginning sounds.

4. Writes with beginning and ending sounds.

5. Writes with beginning, middle, and ending sounds.

6. Writes phrases.

7. Writes simple sentences.

8. Writes simple sentences using correct spacing and punctuation.

9. Writes complex sentences using correct spacing and punctuation.

10. Writes two or more related sentences using correct spacing and punctuation.

  • Can read what he/she has written and/or illustrated.

  • Can read first name.
  • Can identify and produce rhyming words.
  • Uses reading strategies- identify cover of book, track print 1:1, left to right, and identify pictures vs. text.
  • Uses reading comprehension skills-retell the plot/sequence of a story and compare and contrast two different stories

  • Can count by 10s to 80
  • Understands comparisons (numbers and quantities)
  • Understand measurement.
  • Understands and creates base 10 concepts-teens are 1 long and “x” amount of units.
  • Writes numbers 0-20 (reversal ok for single digit not for double digit).
  • Can add and subtract within 5.

Writing

  • Stages of Writing: *Your child should be at stage 7 with their writing.

1. Writes with pictures only.

2. Writes with random letters.

3. Writes with beginning sounds.

4. Writes with beginning and ending sounds.

5. Writes with beginning, middle, and ending sounds.

6. Writes phrases.

7. Writes simple sentences.

8. Writes simple sentences using correct spacing and punctuation.

9. Writes complex sentences using correct spacing and punctuation.

Math

  • Can recognize 21 numbers (0-20)
  • Can count up to 20 objects.
  • Can count to 100 by 1’s and 10’s.
  • Understands comparisons (numbers and quantities)
  • Can add and subtract within 10.
  • Understand measurement.
  • Understands base 10 concepts- (example- 10, 20, 30 are sets of one, two, or three longs) Tens also represent two digit numbers as “x” longs and “x” units.
  • Writes numbers 0-20
  • Can recognize 2-D (hexagon, circle, triangle, square, rectangle) and 3-D shapes (sphere, cube, cylinder, cone)
  • Sorts objects 3 of 3 ways
