Lewis Barlow age 75 comes before the court declaring that in order to obtain a pension, states that he enlisted for two years in Sept 1776 in Virginia in a Company commanded by Capt Michael Bowyer, in the regiment commanded by Col. James Wood in the line of the State of Virginia a in the Continental Establishment and served until Oct 1779 when he was discharged in New York State. He did have 100 acres of land which he since sold. His family consists of 4; Judah age 75, Elizabeth 28 ( a cripple) , George C. 12 and Bluford C. 10 Sept 8, 1830.

Shelby County Court Records, Complete Record Probate Book B 1837-1839, p529, has final settlement made of estate of Lewis Barlow Dec. Widowment Aug 1839.

Lewis Barlow served as a private in the Company of Cpt. Michael Boyer,Col James Woods 12th V a Regt 1776-1779. He was born 1775, in Germany and died in Mt Auburn, In.

Military records for Lewis indicate he was discharged 30 Oct 1778 and was paid 26 2/3 dollors for travel home. I have cover page and 17 sets of monthly pay and administration records.
