Dr.Daphne Winkler, Principal Michelle Ridley, Asst. Principal

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Coker Elementary students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families, agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academicachievement as well as describes how the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high standards.

Jointly Developed

The parents, students, and staff of Coker Elementary School partnered together to develop this school-parent compact for achievement. Teachers suggested home learning strategies, parents added input about the types of support they needed, and students told us what would help them learn. Parents are encouraged to attend annual revision meetings held in the fall of each year to review the compact and make suggestions based on student need and school improvement goals. Parents are also encouraged to participate in the annual Title I parent survey that is also used as a tool to collect parent feedback regarding the current Title I programs and policies.

To understand how working together can benefit your child, it is first important to understand our district’s and school’s goals for student academic achievement.

Murray County District Goals:

  • K-12 students will meet or exceed grade level goals each academic year.
  • Decrease the percentage of students missing six days or more from 44% in 2016 to 40% by 2022.

Coker Elementary Goals:

  • Coker Elementary will increase Tier I instruction to improve student achievement.
  • Coker Elementary will increase the use of technology throughout the school to improve student achievement and make them ready for the 21st century.
