YOUTH MARKET SWINE SHOW

Weigh-in: Wednesday, July 8th- 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. (CT)

Youth Premium Livestock Auction: Thursday, July 9th- 6:30 p.m. (CT)

Checkout: Thursday, July 9th- by 10 p.m. (CT)

1.  Open to all youth nine (9) years old or older as of January 1st of the current year who are residents of Breckinridge Co., who are registered Breckinridge Co. Livestock Club members, and who have attended a Breckinridge Co. school during the year of showing, includes the fair following the member’s high school graduation. Any Livestock Club member from another county, who showed in the 2012 show, will be allowed to finish out their showing years in Breckinridge County.

Exhibitor must have completed the required six (6) hours of educational meetings. Exhibitor must turn in a completed assignment before showing.

2. Each youth may exhibit six (6) animals in the show. The exhibitor must show their own animals. If a member has more than one (1) animal in a class, a qualified Breckinridge County Livestock Club member or qualified sibling will be allowed to show the animal. Limit of one (1) animal per exhibitor in the Youth Premium Livestock Auction.

3. Weigh-in will be Wednesday, July 8th, 8:30-10 a.m. (CT). The minimum weight requirement is

130 lbs with a five (5) lbs variance for scales. No re-weighs will be allowed. Grand and Reserve Champions and all animals that are in the sale must remain at the fairgrounds until after the Youth Premium Livestock Auction. All exhibitors must remove their animals from the fairgrounds following the Youth Premium Livestock Auction on Thursday, July 9th by 10 p.m. (CT).

4.  All entries must conform to the official health regulations governing the exhibition of livestock in Kentucky. In addition, all entries must have an official health certificate according to Kentucky State regulations. All Swine health certificates must be no more than 7 days prior to show dates. Health certificates will be checked before they are unloaded.

5.  Animals must have been identified (KUIP ear tag and DNA tested) at an official validation site prior to May 16th of the current year. Animals shall be owned and under continual care of the exhibitor by KUIP tagging date. Animals shall be available for inspection within Breckinridge County at any time after the tagging and up to weigh-in date.

6.  Exhibitor shall groom and fit their own animals with little or no assistance from adults. A minimum of assistance may be provided to exhibitor by the following adult individuals: the exhibitor’s parents (not to exceed a total of two parents), the exhibitor’s local supervising County Extension Agent (4-H Youth Development Agent or Agricultural Agent) or Vocational Agriculture Teacher, and/or one (1) approved Breckinridge County Livestock Certified Volunteer Leader.

7.  Any animal the show committee considers a hazard to other animals, exhibitors, spectators, etc. will be removed from the show and possibly fairgrounds, and will be ineligible for class placement and premiums.

8.  Each exhibitor will receive a ribbon. Grand & Reserve Champions will receive an award.

9.  A showmanship class will be held before the Market Swine Show. Rosette will be given for age division

winner. An award for Grand Champion and Reserve Champion each species.

6.  There will be a novice weight class. Co-owned animals can be exhibited in both the novice market show and the youth market show. Animals must be KUIP and DNA identified in the exhibitor’s name. Novice exhibitors will not participate in the Youth Premium Livestock Auction. Must be a resident of Breckinridge County.
