ApplyinginPerson

Parentsmayalso choosetoapplyinpersonattheirlocal school, where theywillcompleteeitheranelectronic application ora paperapplication.

MaintainingaPrioritySequence

Uponenteringtheelectronicapplication,S.O.A.R.willissueafilenumberandadate/timeforreference.Pleasekeepthis informationforfuturereferenceifrequiredtoaccessyour applicationinformation.

Ifapplyinginperson at theschoolon January13th,parentswill alsoreceiveadate/timelabelwhichwill beaffixed totheapplication.Bothprocesses willenablethe creation of a processinglistforeachschool.

Documentation

Oncetheapplicationiscomplete,theparent/guardianmustmeetwith the schoolinorderto validatedocumentation.

Thefollowingdocumentsare requiredwhencompletingtheapplication:

•BaptismalCertificate

•Birth certificateand/orPassportifnotborninCanada

•ImmunizationRecord

•ProofofResidency

•ApplicationforCatholic SchoolSupport(completed attheschool)

All documents must be submitted by February 5th to the school for consideration in placement, especially for schools with enrolment pressures. These students will be pre-registered during the week of February 8th and parents should receive notification of placement at this time.

2.AMeeting withschoolpersonnelhas takenplace

3.Alldocumentationhasbeen submitted andvalidatedby theschool

Towhichschool mayIapply?

WithintheS.O.A.Rprogram,applicants will bedirectedtotheir communityschoolwhichisbasedontheapplicant’sresidential addressfound withintheschoolboundary.

If anapplicant wishestoapplyto aschooloutsidethe boundaryof theircommunityschool,theywillhavethe opportunitytomakean outofboundaryrequestontheirapplication.

Pleasenotethat an applicationtoanyschool,whetherinsideoroutsidetheboundarydoesnotguaranteeacceptanceattheschoolselected.TCDSBwillhowever,makeeveryattemptto identifyaschoolwherethereisspaceandwherethechildmayattend.Please notethatin linewithourtransportationpolicy,Transportation/bussing isnotguaranteed.

PriorityWaitlists

Applicationsareprocessedaccordingtothe prioritysequence. Onceallavailablespaceshavebeenfilled at a school,anyremainingapplicantswillbeplacedon oneof6potentialwait listsaspertheElementarySchoolAdmissionsPolicy:

•PriorityI–Applicantlivinginside oroutsidetheboundary ofthe school witha sibling attendingtheschool(in juniorkindergartento grade7)andnotregisteredinExtended French, French Immersion or SpecialEducation/IntensiveSupportProgramClass

•**Priority2- Applicantlivingintheschoolboundary

• Priority3–Applicantlivingoutsidetheschool boundarybutattends a licensedchildcarewithintheschool boundary forSeptember 2016

•Priority4– Applicantlivingoutsidetheschool boundarywith unlicensedchildcarewithintheschoolboundary

•Priority5–Applicantlivingoutsidetheschool boundaryand is not attendingchildcare

•Priority6–ApplicantlivingoutsidetheCityof Toronto

**For French Immersions schools, all students who live within the larger regional family of schools may apply for admission, but placement in the French Immersion Program will only occur if space permits, and based on a date-time stamp process.

Withineachpriority,allapplications maintainthedate/timestampsequenceasset intheinitialapplication.

In schoolswithlimitedspace, studentswhoare on theWaitlist as perthePrioritieslistedabovewillbeofferedan alternatecatholic elementaryschool.Transportationisnotguaranteedtothealternateschoolsite.

Howlongdoestheapplicationstayonthewaitlist?Applications willremainontheWaitlistuntilSeptember30,2016.Applicants willbecontactedbytheschooliftheyarebeingconsideredfor admission.Shouldparentswishfortheir childtobeconsidered forthefollowingyeartheymust re-applyinJanuary2017.
