Volunteer Newsletter – Summer 2016

I hope this newsletter finds you all well and enjoying the slightly warmer weather!

Thank you all once again for your hard work over yet another busy year in the Hospice. Your time and commitment make such a difference to our services and we truly appreciate you.

As you are aware we have spent a lot of time working toward our Investing in Volunteers Award. For those of you who have not already hear, we are delighted to announce wehave been awarded the quality standard.

To celebrate this fantastic achievement we will incorporate the official presentation into our Summer Volunteer event – which this year is going to be a Tea Party!!

We would therefore like to invite you all to:

Update Training

Over the last few months we have been delivering mandatory training. Thanks to all of you who have attended. If you have still been unable to make it to one of our sessions, please do get in touch so we can organise a suitable time for you. This training will now take place on a yearly basis, commencing in January.

Café

We opened our café in July last year and it is proving to be very beneficial to relatives. There are still a few shifts where we could use some more help. If you, or anyone you know, would be interested please give us a call to arrange a taster session. Full training will be given.

PatientDriver for Wheelchair Accessible Car Dungannon

Our patient driver in Dungannon will be leaving us shortly after 7 years. This has been an invaluable service for patients and their families and we are really grateful to him for his commitment. We now need to find a new driver. Do you know of anyone who might be interested in this role? Could you spread the word please? Once again, please contact Andrea or Rosie to chat about this.

Contact Details

As you know we would like to contact more volunteers either by text or email, where possible. We have been sending out the newsletter by email where we can. This has proven very effective at helping to cut down on our postal costs. If you have changed your email address or if you are new to emailing, could you please let us have your details so that we can cut costs even further?

Finally, could we ask those of you that we text about events, to please let us know even if you cannot help, so that we may rule you out as a possibility and prevent us from pestering you with another text!!! Thank you 
