Learning Outside

Our partnership with the Conservation Council of NB allows our students the opportunity to get outside and participate in learning sessions with Nadine Ives, Project Coordinator for Learning outside. Each month Nadine comes to our school to go outside with our students to cover a variety of topics such as; watching and feeding local birds, looking for animal tracks and other signs, measuring temperature and snow depth, and exploring how animals and plants adapt to winter. How fortunate we are to be able to learn while enjoying snow fresh air!

Hot Lunch and Milk Program

Hot Lunch will begin again on Monday, January 15th. This will be for one week and then we will begin our regular two week Hot Lunch rotation. Order forms are due this Wednesday, January 17th for the two week rotation. Please remember that Hot Lunch orders need to be sent in on Wednesdays. Also, check to ensure that you have your child’s name on each form, and that the items are checked off.

Winter is here!

The temperature outside has definitely changed and students need to be dressed for the weather. All students should be coming to school dressed to go outside. We go outside each day at least twice and students look forward to playing outside with friends. Please ensure that your child is dressed with coat, boots, snowpants, hat, mitts. Thank you!

CARE THEME FOR JANUARY:

RESPECT FOR SELF

Our studentsworked hard on responsibility last month. Students have been reminded that they are responsible for their actions and behaviours, and they have a responsibility to do their very best here at school.

Throughout the month of January, we will focus on RESPECT FOR SELF.We all need to take care of ourselves and work hard to be good people. Honesty and integrity are a big part of self-respect.

Important!

Contact Information Update

People often change cell phones or home/work numbers over the holidays. It is very important that you ensure the school is aware of any changes to your contact information. There is nothing more upsetting to a child than when we are not able to reach you during an emergency or if they are sick at school.

Please email the school with any newinformation call 357-4075

CARE CLUB UPDATE

For those students in grades 3-5 who participate in afterschool CARE CLUB on Thursdays, please note that CARE Club will be continuing every Thursday.

SPORTS CLUB ON MONDAYS

This club is now open to Grade 3 students as well. The permission form for Grade 3 students will go home on Monday!

Reminder - School Cancellations

We are ZONE 7 for school closures. Also, please remember that we need to be able to reach you at all times during the school day, in case of emergency or closure during the school day. Make sure that your contact information is updated.

Cooking at CARE Club

We are pleased to announce that we will be offering a healthy eating cooking session as part of our CARE Club activities on Thursday. Our focus will be on healthy snacks and breakfast food that is easy to prepare. Parents will be invited to participate in two sessions and all recipes will be shared with each family. We would like to thank the Fredericton Community Foundation for choosing LECS as the successful recipient of the Rosemary’s Pantry Grant, making this fun-filled initiative possible.

100’s of Ways to say THANKS

We are fortunate to be a partner of the Community Kitchen Student Hunger Program. Each month our school receives food items which we use for our lunch tray and backpack program. During the week of February 5-9 we will be having a school challenge to see which class can bring in the most donated food! Each pound of food will be given a $ value of $2.50. The class that raises the mostmoney will be awarded with a Pancake Breakfast! If our school is successful bringing in 400 lbs of food we will have a Smoothie and Fruit Kebab lunch time treat!
