The Government Has Extended Eligibility for Pupil Premium Funding

November 2016

Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers

Did you know …

the Government has extended eligibility for Pupil Premium funding

– please read on for further details

The Government has given extra funding to schools to help children from lower income families do their very best. If you are registered for Free School Meals, we could use this money to help you meet the cost of a school activity or trip, resources for study or academic intervention and mentoring. If you think that your son may be entitled to free school meals, please register as soon as possible to ensure that your son doesn’t miss out on an opportunity.

  1. Registering is really quick and easy – if you think you qualify, contact Mrs Farley, Parent Support Adviser, who will help you to register:  0118 9781626 ext. 1085 or 
  2. If you want your child to have a free, healthy meal at lunchtime that’s great – the free meal will save you more than £400 a year and give extra benefits for your son and his school.
  3. If you don’t want your child to have the school meals, he can continue as normal – as long as you qualify and are registered, the pupil premium can still apply.

The funding is also available for any child who is no longer entitled to Free School Meals, but has been eligible within the last 6 years.

Additionally, this funding applies to those pupils whose parent(s) are currently serving, or have served in the Armed Forces, within the last 6 years.

Furthermore, the funding has been extended to include those children who have been adopted from care, or placed under special guardianship orders or residence order.

If you think any of these circumstances apply to you and your child, please contact Mrs Farley, Parent Support Adviser, who will be pleased to help you. Please note that you will be asked for evidence.

Yours sincerely
