Summer Fair
Thank you to FOFS for organising and running last week’s fair. I was so pleased it stayed dry so we could all be outside. Thank you for all who helped and all who donated something. The fair raised approximately £1400 which is great for resources for school. Thank you.
Thank you for your patience when arriving to collect your child. You know that the safety of over 450 children is my priority. It would be easy to open the doors and have a complete free for all to stop the queuing, waiting and rota system; however, our safety could then be compromised. If I thought it would stay dry everyone could come at 1.30pm but the good old British weather is far from reliable and we would not all be able to fit in the hall at once if it rained. One solution is the fair is just for children but it would be a shame for the rest of the family to miss out. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. If not we will continue as we are and continue to be patient with smiles.
Sports Week
The children have really enjoyed the sporting activities this week. They have looked great in their red and black PE kits and it has also helped to keep them cool!
School Shoes for September
Kelly Lowrey is the store manager at Clarks in the Metro Centre . As they prepare for their biggest event in their retail calendar, she has been contacting all local schools and nurseries to ask that they might kindly support them by letting parents know Clarks offer an appointment service and earlier appointments when the store is closed to support children who have autism and might struggle with the hectic environment.

Old Shoes
Did you know that your old shoes can be part of an amazing story?
Bring your old pairs of shoes to school on Friday 14th July to support the Unicef Shoe Share partnership; children may wear any sensible shoes they wish in the last week of term.

Citizens of the Future
As part of our British Values curriculum we need to teach the children about tolerance, equality and rights. We do this to prepare them to be good citizens of the future.
British Values are taught through RE: e.g. our recent Sikhism Day, visits to other religious places of worship, assemblies and lessons in class. Next week we will be holding a Show Racism the Red Card Day as well. The atrocities in the news recently have sparked much conversation and questions in school. Teachers deal with this openly but sensitively to ensure that their understanding is factual and not biased. We have a multi-cultural school and live in a multi-cultural society and therefore, teaching about tolerance is a high priority.
Nursery
Thank you for coming along to our Sports Day this week. We think the children did extremely well. Next week we are planning on making boats with those children who wish to do so. If you have any junk modelling items that you think would be useful please send them in. (margarine tubs, corks, foil, yogurt pots, plastic lids etc..) Form now until theend of term we will be going over the previoussounds of the week so there will be no more things to send in! If you have not returned your child's library book please do so. Thank you.

Reception
Daisy:Rights Respecting Mascot
Well done Scarlett(Reception) and JackRobson(year 2) who were rights respecting role models by teaching their family about their rights at home this week.
Mason (Reception) has been chosenthis week to take home Daisy,to teach his family about children's rights. Mason was nominated because his awareness of children's rights has been incredible. Mason has been linking his learning to the UNCRC articles! Well done Mason.

A girl’s green bomber jacket has been lost, please can everyone look at home to see if they’ve pick it up by mistake.
