Required Personal Protective Equipment: CSA approved safety glasses or goggles, CSA approved steel-toed boots/shoes, coveralls, rubber gloves and air fed respirator.

GENERAL NOTES: No lighters, matches or cell phones allowed in shop area. Long necklaces and or bracelets are to be removed. Long hair should be tied back. Strings hanging from pullovers/sweaters should be removed or tucked inside pullover/sweater. Hoods from pullovers/sweaters should be tucked inside pullover/sweater or removed.

1 / Inspect the work area. Beware of surrounding to prevent injury, fire, combustion, and damage to property. --Observe surrounding work area for proper housekeeping. --Observe surrounding work area for possible points of ignition. --Observe surrounding work area for possible fluid contamination. --Ensure this procedure is performed in a well-ventilated area. --Ensure proper fire extinguisher (Class A) is available, is operational and inspected yearly by a qualified person. --Ensure all equipment is properly grounded. --Ensure exhausted fan is on.
2 / Remove lid from paint cup assembly and discard waste material in appropriate container. / Paint not poured under control - spill, or splash, in eyes. --Poor handling of gun - drop gun on foot. / Pour paint with control. --Wear required personal protective equipment - safety glasses or goggles. --Have firm grip on the gun.
3 / Add 2 to 3 ounces of gun wash into cup. / Solvent poured with care, splash in eyes or on exposed skin. --Performing task near flame or high heat - fire hazard. / Pour with control --Wear required personal protective equipment - safety glasses or goggles and rubber gloves. --Ensure this step is done in a safe place away from any possible heat or ignition source.
4 / Brush inside the cup to loosen waste paint material. / Sloppy brushing - spray or splash cleaner or waste material into eyes or exposed skin. --Performing task near flame or high heat - fire hazard. / Wear required personal protective equipment - safety glasses or goggles and rubber gloves. --Ensure this task is done is a safe place away from any possible heat or ignition source.
5 / Add 2 to 3 ounces of gun wash into cup. / Solvent sprayed without care - splash in eyes or on exposed skin. --Performing task near flame or high heat - fire hazard. --Creates mist - inhalation. / Wear safety glasses or goggles and rubber gloves. --Ensure this step is done in a safe place away from any possible ignition source. --Area should be well ventilated. Control the gun and where it is pointed.
6 / Add more gun wash to the gun reservoir. / Solvent poured without care - splash in eyes or on exposed skin. --Performing task near flame or high heat - fire hazard. / Safety glasses and or goggles and rubber gloves required. --Pour solvent with control. --Ensure this step is completed away from any possible heat source.
7 / Hook-up spray gun air hose. / Hands to close to coupling - hand/finger injury - pinch/crush--Compressed air enters the skin. / Watch placement of hands/fingers--Wear gloves
8 / Spray gun wash into filler exhaust fan at 10 pounds per inch max. / Solvent sprayed with care - could splash in eyes or on exposed skin. --Performing this task near a flame or high heat is a fire hazard. --Creates mist - inhalation danger. --No control of hose - could cause tripping and or snagging on equipment. / Wear safety glasses and or goggles, rubber gloves and air fed respirator. --Ensure this step is done in a safe place away from any possible flame or ignition source. --Complete this task in a well-ventilated area. --Control the gun and where it is pointed; use only the amount of hose needed to do the job.
9 / Remove air cap and rinse with gun wash until clean. / Performing task near flame or high heat - fire hazard / This step is completed in a safe place away from any possible flame or ignition source - complete step in a well-ventilated area.
10 / Remove fluid nozzle with gun wrench if required. / Sharp edges - cut or pinch skin / Wear rubber gloves - ensure this step is done in a safe place away from any possible ignition source.
11 / Rinse fluid nozzle with gun wash until clean. / Solvent poured without care, splash in eyes or on exposed skin. --Performing task near flame or high heat, - fire hazard. / Safety glasses and or goggles and rubber gloves required. --Pour with control, firm grip. --Ensure this step is done is a safe place away from any ignition source.
12 / Reassemble gun, tighten fluid nozzle clockwise with gun wrench while depressing gun trigger / Sharp edges - cut or pinch skin--Pinch points - gun trigger. / Wear gloves--Watch placement of hand/finger
13 / Put more gun wash in the reservoir and let stand, also soak air cap in gun wash. / Solvent poured with care, splash in eyes or on exposed skin. --Performing task near flame or high heat source. / Wear safety glasses and or goggles and rubber gloves. --Pour with control, firm grip. --Ensure this step is done in a safe place away from any possible flame or ignition source.
