Surrey Tennis’ mission is to advance and promote tennis in the County. As part of this mission Junior Performance Training has been reinstated and we need to establish a clear and transparent performance structureto ensure this is successful, hence the requirement for a County Performance Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to: Surrey Tennis Performance Committee

Role Summary:

To co-ordinate and manage the provision of County training and County Cup teams, building relationships with coaches and clubs enabling the identification and progression of junior players from across the County.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Junior County Training
  • Co-ordinate and manage a programme of junior County Training sessions.
  • Produce and agree Junior County Tennis squad selection criteria.
  • Create and deliver a supportive communication programme, including presentations, to parents, juniors, coaches and Clubs.
  • Develop and agree a role specification for coaches
  • Recruit coaches to deliver structured competitive training to participants
  • Ensure all involved are fully conversant with the LTA’s ‘Safe & Inclusive Tennis’ policies and procedures, including necessary training and up to date DBS, and parental consent forms are completed.
  • Book appropriate training venues across Surrey, liaising with the County office as required.
  • Arrange a Competitive programme for all, with for example friendlyCounty matches to provide match experience for the training squads.
  • Annually review the programme and implement changes and improvements as necessary.
  • County Cup (U10 to U18)
  • Produce and agree Junior County Cup selection criteria.
  • Produce and agree Age Group County Cup Team Manager and Coach selection criteria.
  • Develop and agree an Age Group County Cup Team Manager and Coach role specification.
  • Liaise with the Age GroupTeam Manager and submit team selections to the County office prior to the nomination deadline.
  • Speak with parents regarding the team selections, behavioural issues and other matters when necessary.
  • Reporting
  • Develop a Strategic 5 year Plan for County Training which should be :
  • Achievable and affordable
  • Measurable against criteria for success – ratings, rankings, results
  • Co-ordinated with other key stakeholders so everyone can buy into the vision
  • Reviewed against criteria and budget and adjusted as necessary
  • Submit term reports to the Surrey Tennis Performance Committee on the progress of:
  • Ratings and rankings
  • Junior County Training Squads, including the number of players involved.
  • County Cup Fixtures, recent and scheduled
  • Other Fixtures, recent and scheduled
  • Financial
  • Produce annual financial projections for the delivery of Junior County Training for the agreement of the SurreyTennis Operations Board.
  • Monitor ongoing expenditure against the agreed budget set by the Surrey Tennis Operations Board and advise the Treasurer of any increases.
  • General
  • To be the named the Surrey Tennisperson to respond to enquiries relating to the County Performance programme.
  • Work closely with Players, Clubs, Club Coaches, the Surrey Coaches Group andthe LTA Regional Officeon development programmes toensure that the ‘pathway’ to being part of the County Training structure and beyond is understood.
  • Visit clubs, schools, tournaments and other venues to identify talent and work with their coaches. Create a talent database.
  • Attend Coach Forums
  • Liaise with the Senior County Captains to ensure that there is a transition from Junior to Adult County Cup involvement.
  • Produce content for the Surrey Tennis website, Twitter, etc.
  • Arrange for kit to be issued for those selected for County Squad Training.
  • Consider a plan beyond U18 through to U25?
  • Qualifications / Skills
  • Current LTA Coach Accredited+Minimum Level 4
  • Full clean Driving License
  • Excellent organisation,communication and presentation skills
  • Strong IT literacy. You will be responsible for managing all your own IT and administration.

2018 Initial Objectives

  1. Develop and present to SurreyTennis a Strategic Plan, with associated costs, for the 2018 Junior County Training Programme.
  2. Develop and agree the Junior County Training squad selection criteria.
  3. Develop and agree a communication programme which will be aimed at parents, juniors, coaches and Clubs.
  4. Develop and agree a role specification for Age Group Coaches with the personal attributes required.

  • Remuneration to be agreedsubject to hours anddepending on experience
