Rin Tin Tin Film “The Night Cry” to Screen at Weinberg Center
FREDERICK, Md., Wednesday, April 6,2016— The 1926silent drama“The Night Cry”will be screened at the Weinberg Center for the Arts on Saturday, April 16 at 2:00pm as part of the center’s Silent Film Series.
Starring famous canine performer Rin Tin Tin, the film follows the story of a sheepdog wrongly accused of attacking neighboring lambs. Rin Tin Tin – a German Shephard who starred in 27 Hollywood films following World War I – is joined by actors John Harron and June Marlowe. The film is not rated and has a runtime of 70 minutes.
The trademark of any silent film is the organ accompaniment that provides the soundtrack for the action on screen. Installed in 1926, the Weinberg’s magnificent Wurlitzer organ is the only one of its kind in Maryland still in its original installation. The Wurlitzer is played by Baltimore native Michael Britt, who previously served as a substitute for longtime organist Ray Brubacher.
Britt has been featured on a number of televised presentations on the theater pipe organ, including an appearance on Maryland Public Television. He serves as the minister of music and organist at Brown Memorial Park Avenue Presbyterian Church in Baltimore and assistant organist at Beth-El Congregation. He is on the faculty at the Community College of Baltimore County and holds a bachelor's degree in organ performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music.
Tickets for the screening are $5-$7 with discounts available for students, children, military, and seniors.Tickets may be purchased online at WeinbergCenter.org, by calling the Box Office at 301.600.2828, or in person at 20 West Patrick St.
