Be a mythmaker

A myth is a legendary story used to describe a supernatural being or event or explain a religious belief or practice

Student is to write and illustrate their own myth.

Requirements:

·  Using the research about your God, Goddess or Mythological creature you will need to create a myth.

·  While you are researching read myths written about your subject.

·  You will need to include a theme. Typical themes involved in Greek Mythology are about good versus evil, emotions (love, envy, fear or jealousy) or the Gods teaching the humans a lesson.

·  The myth will need to have an introduction, three paragraphs with supporting details, and a conclusion

·  The myth will need to be accompanied by an illustration depicting a scene you have written about.

·  Your myth may be written or typed.

Presentation:

·  You will read your myth to the class and present your illustration

Drama: Bring a Myth to Life

Students, no more than three, are to take a Greek myth and write a script or play based on that myth. Students reinterpret the myth (remake in their own original way).

Requirements:

·  The script must have a setting; it may be set in Ancient times or if the myth is reinterpreted may be set in modern times (today).

·  Main characters and supporting characters need to be easily identified.

·  There must be a plot (conflict/rising, falling action/resolution) based on the myth.

Presentation:

·  Act in class (may have script in hand), present as reader’s theater.

·  4 minute minimum 8 minute maximum minute presentation.

Teamwork: Everyone must have a fair share in the workload: research, writing, acting, and time spent on the project.

Props and costumes are encouraged!!

PowerPoint Presentation

Students are to research Greek God, Goddess or Mythological Creature and a myth associated with them. Student must then translate their research PowerPoint Presentation.

Requirements:

·  Research include a myth about your subject

·  7 minimum 10 maximum number of slides

·  Each slide have at least 3 main ideas

·  Each slide is easy to understand, have no more than 3 graphics

·  Animation is not overdone and does distract from the data

Presentation:

3-5 minutes in length. Presentation supports the research.

Board Game

Students will create a board game with a theme based on Greek Mythology

Requirements:

·  Must be playable by at least 2 players.

·  Must have a clear goal to win the game.

·  Rules/instructions must be easy to follow and written clearly or typed.

·  Game pieces are completed. (dice, spinners, pieces, may be brought from home

Presentation:

Students may explain the way the board game works to the class or play several rounds of the board game as an example. The board game must be completed and present during the presentation. Length is 3-5 minutes.

Family Tree

Student(s) you may work with a partner, is to create a Family Tree outlining the Greek Gods, Goddesses and Mythological creatures’ relationships to one another

Requirements:

·  Students are to create a family tree beginning with Chaos and ending with the Olympian Gods

·  Students are required to identify the name of the God, Goddess, and Mythological creature

·  Students will need to provide two facts about each of the identified God, Goddess, and Mythological creature

·  Students will create their family tree using butcher paper

Presentation:

3-5 minutes in length. Presentation must support the research
