  1. Quality of teaching for all

Desired outcome / Chosen action/approach / Estimated impact: Did you meet the success criteria? Include impact on pupils not eligible for PP, if appropriate. / Lessons learned
(and whether you will continue with this approach) / Cost
PP pupils receive quality teaching in class through increased staff subject knowledge & confidence in teaching / Coaching for teaching staff (covering both English & Maths) / Frequent, short in class coaching sessions were identified by staff as useful in improving learning in class.
Coaches focussed on vulnerable pupils in lessons – who were often eligible for PP / While coaching is taking place for some staff, the SLT need to continue to monitor pupils eligible for PP & pupils with slow progress or low attainment through regular learning walks / £1773
Talk 4 Writing whole school staff training / Leadership Team Monitoring shows consistency between classes and year groups in the teaching of writing.
The practice of telling stories and story mapping has been a good scaffold form some of our most vulnerable pupils who often lack a ‘story’ focussed background. / Staff have engaged very well and we will continue to develop this approach. / £78
Maths Mastery Training from School Improvement Partner / Staff gaining a deeper understanding of how all children need to achieve mastery in maths has been a focus for us as a whole school. / Seek similar training again. Need to move onto how the More Able and More Able PP eligible pupils’ needs can be met. / £48
Other Maths & English training from the Local Authority / Deeper knowledge of the new curriculum and end of year expectations is growing throughout the staff. Staff are sharing knowledge in teams. / Some of these courses have been very appropriate to staff gaps in knowledge. Continue / £1560
Buying the computer programme ‘Clicker’ / There was not a discernible impact in terms of academic attainment for pupils targeted to use Clicker. Information from teachers points to increased fluency in writing and certainly a greater willingness to write for pupils. / This resource is more targeted towards SEND that most of our PP pupils. There are plans to consider buying a site license for the resource, but there are no plans to purchase from the PP budget. / £2000
